A cool thing that happened at my last mapping

Congrats! Numbers were my first clear words also. I'm 4 months post activation and I can understand about half of what is said on TV without the CC. Hope you keep getting that great feeling as you progress with your new CI! JC

For CI users who also wear a HA

For me that situation where the HA was turned off was in noisy crowds. ;) JC

    Lawsuits against Advanced Bionics

Did you ask every person who decided on the Nucleus if that was their reason? It may be YOUR reason but unless you have the actual facts don't speak for others. All three companies have had implants fail, so no one is immune to imperfection. JC

    Airport Security

Interesting. How do you remove the surgically implanted parts (coil/magnet) from your head just before you enter the scanner? LOL! JC

    CI medic alert jewelry?

Do you mean magnet? The receiver of the implant is not removed. If you need an MRI, the magnet on those implants that have "removable magnets" would be removed and then replaced with a new one after the MRI is done. JC

Covering of hearing aids with your hair

I have short hair and I couldn't care less if my HA and CI processor is visible. Heck, I love using the color caps and covers on my CI to show it off! = ) JC

For CI users who also wear a HA

Lissa, I use a HA in the left ear and have the implant on the right. I do find that in some situations I hear better with the HA off and in others the HA turned on. I talked to my audi about this and what other people do and she told me it's up to the individuals. (She hasn't run into a patient...

Luckily right now it's strictly on a voluntary basis. Nobody is "required" to go thru the scanners. At least for now. . . JC

    Wow! AB's Harmony vs. Cochlear's Nucleus 5!

Resolution I agree with the other users here. I've read your other posts and you seem to be here simply to be picking debates with people. JC AB Cochlear Implant right ear

    Wow! AB's Harmony vs. Cochlear's Nucleus 5!

When I did some research for my CI, I used third party research to get technical specs not the manufacturers and reviewed tons of reviews by the users themselves and talked to serveral users personally. Every manufacturer is going to claim they're the best. All three manufacturers are good and...

    How long do moulds last?

I've worn hearing aids for 42 years. (Now I wear a hearing aid in the left ear and have a CI in my right) Never had to replace the molds until I got new hearing aids which was between every 5-7 years. Until my last one which cracked after 5 years so I had to have that one placed which should...

This is old news. Those lawyers appear to be scrounging for clients to make money.

    CI medic alert jewelry?

I wear an ID. Just says "Cochlear Implant - Can NOT have MRI". I'm not taking a chance, doctors and nurses are human and mistakes can happen. I got mine from American Medical ID. I actually have a couple styles, one for work, for play and for formal occasions. They have a great variety of...

    Airport Security

I contacted the manufacturer of my CI which is Advanced Bionics. Based on what they know about the technology of these scanners, they don't anticipate problems however since no testing has been done it's not known/confirmed how the implant will be affected. They reccommended that I take the...
