    Earthquake in California

Help me out here. I'm in New England so I have no idea. How close is Petaluma to Napa? On the map it looks fairly close, but I can't tell. My brother lives in Petaluma but i don't want to text him if it isn't as close as it looks.

Market Basket Boycott is affecting the local farmers

You must be a bit closer to the coast than I am. I am just outside Lowell so luckily I'm close to Nashua and Hudson and there are a ton of stores that way. I don't think anyone around here is confused since the HQ is in our area. My FB feed is full of Arthur T supporters. The feud between the...

Made in the USA: 13 All-American Dog Breeds

Dogmom, one of the vets I work with has a Dutch Shepherd x Belgian Malonois. I love her and I want to steal her! The vet is doing SAR training with her.

Market Basket Boycott is affecting the local farmers

I usually buy meat and produce at Hannaford, so the bare shelves didn't bother me too much. But I do most of the rest of my shopping at MB. There are Shaws and Stop n Shop near me but I don't care for either of those stores.

Market Basket Boycott is affecting the local farmers

I went to MB Saturday and the meat and produce were pretty bare. They had a petition going in the store and they were making announcements constantly.

The most dangerous job you ever took?

I work at a veterinary hospital, so it can be dangerous at times. I am comfortable dealing with all dogs, no matter how aggressive they are. Cats can be twice as nasty. My worst injuries were from a full-grown iguana (~6ft. including tail) that scratched the crap out of me, though. While it...

What Song Are You Listening To?

Matt Nathanson's new album, "Modern Love" has been streaming on AOL Music for free since Tuesday (and it will until the album's release this upcoming Tuesday). I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop and I'm loving it. But I've been a huge Matt Nathanson fan since 2003 so I may be...

    Relay Service Hangups

We can turn anyone down over the phone for any reason and require they come into the branch. We have done it for other reasons (non-relay calls) where the person taking the call was uncomfortable as well. Protecting our customers' accounts and identification is our #1 priority. Deaf...

    Relay Service Hangups

I work at a bank, and while we don't automatically hangup, unfortunately right now we are not assisting any relay callers with anything other than general info. So no checking balances, initiating wires or phone transfers etc. They must come into a branch to be identified. (Well I know of one...

    B&N Nook

I have a Nook wifi-only. I puffy-heart love it! I chose the Nook because, at the time, the Kindle had not announced anything regarding library lending. I went to my local library's website and they were already compatible with the Nook. I chose the wifi over the 3G or color versions...

    My new dog Marty bite!!

I am a dog trainer located in MA, though I am currently only offering group classes, as I don't have time to do private training right now. Do you mind me asking what trainer you are using? Just curious if it is someone I know or have worked with. If you don't want to answer on the public...

    Dog waits at grave

Hachiko met his owner at the train station when he returned from work every day. Hachiko continued to go to the station for 9 years after his owner passed. Greyfriars Bobby allegedly stayed at his owner's grave for 14 years (except to go find food). Both very touching stories.

    Ferret Fun!

Ferrets have been legal in MA for years now. It's true they used to be banned. They aren't classified as rodents, they are in the weasel family. You are correct, though, that the bans are based on fear for native wildlife. The lawmakers argue that escaped and released ferrets could survive...

    Charity for pet surguries

This would not be covered under pet insurance. For one thing, it's a pre-existing condition. Also, many insurance companies would consider this a genetic problem, and many won't cover that.

    Charity for pet surguries

Patellar Luxation is very common in small breeds of dogs, but is less common in larger dogs (like yours). This condition is when the patella (kneecap) slides out of the groove that it should sit in. Patellar Luxation is usually given a grade from 1-4 with a I/IV being the mildest and a IV/IV...
