Wonderfull conclusion. You're wrong! - I never said that. I have seen the writing skills of people that use mainly ASL on Alldeaf and it tells a lot.
I'm saying that for children that grow up with ASl as a first language, learning to write is an extra challenge..., an extra language to learn.
Have a look on AllDeaf.

You say that ASL is a factor for their writing skills? You're wrong, very wrong. Many of us on alldeaf did not learned signs until much later in life, so don't blame it on ASL. You don't even know what you're talking about, Cloggy.

It cause from lack of proper education, most hearing parents, who probably know little or nothing or no prior experience with deaf, most hearing parents intend to listen to professionals instead of finding their own resource on deaf, with thousands of questions run through parents mind as how will my child learn? how can we communicate fully? how will this impact our family, what will my child's life be like? parents were being in denial.

Most professionals would inform parents to have the deaf child reply on speech. Just like how they told my father, My father never knew sign exist until one teacher brought it up. It's important for parents to educate themselves try to figured out the next step to help their deaf child, before it's too late.

It's important to make every effort to meet other parents who has deaf children, nor deaf adults.

If you want to pin a blame on someone, Take your place of blame on those ignorance hearing parents and education.

I wish Cloggy would meet my coworkers and the many other Deaf people whose first language is ASL and see how well they write. Matter of fact, right now teaching one of my students how to write is sooo easy cuz her first language is ASL and she understands the concpts in written English better than my other students who werent exposed to ASL in the first place. Cloggy has NO idea what he is talking about. Until he gets the experience of using ASL and meeting ASL users, he has no argument.

Everybody can see for themselves how pple write here.
And I don't know about others but I've never said ALL deaf pple who use ASL project their sign language into written English. I said SOME, with various degree.

Including yourself, too, right?

Fromt heperspective of someone who sees the writing of college level deaf students on a daily basis, I see more errors in the writing of those students who were raised and educated orally. They make very predictable and consistent errors.

perhaps you have difficulty reading because I've stated this numerous times- I have never claimed to have perfect English.

Fuzzy

And, in that case, you have no foundation on which to base your criticism of others.

I have seen many errors like that, and they are very different from here in one aspect - they are STILL consistent with the general grammar rules of spoken language.
no hearing person will write, for example:
"It cause from lack of proper education".

The way hearing person makes grammar mistakes would be like:
"Enraged cow injures farmer with ax".

And Cheri no, I am not picking on you, I just found this line at first glance, so sorry for chosing yours.

I see examples on a daily basis, and they are in no way similar to the errors made by the hearing. They are not cinsistent with grammar rules at all. Syntax is somewhat consistent with spoken langauge, but grammar is definately not. I'm certain that shel can validate that' as well.

Jillio,

Care to explain what " syntax " exactly means ? I am tryin' to understand you and some ADers here when they mentioned about syntax. :-\

Everybody can see for themselves how pple write here.

Who cares. This is a discussion board, writing perfect English grammar is not asked to be expected to participants on this board. I don't even find that applied to the rules here at AD.

And secondly of all, How can you tell other people how they write when you're not so sure how to yourself? Why are you so concerned about others when you should be worrying about yourself? Never attack a writer or say something to the effect of, "You can't write good English or perfect standard English." You may think the one word or two is particularly bad, but that doesn't mean the person is a bad writer.

If you're going to be making constructive criticism on how others write, then you should take one good look at yourself there fuzzy, You're no better.

End of the discussion.

Then perhaps it's time for you to stop the criticism of others..It's depressing and useless ...

And I don't and never did criticise anybody - I just state the obvious.

Fuzzy

You're so full of it fuzzy, You don't know the differences between criticizing someone and stating the obvious, if you're just stating the obvious, then what does that make you when you're writing in some errors? You wouldn't be pointing fingers on others than yourself.

You're criticizing them because you think you have no problem with how you write.

Use your common sense fuzzy, sometimes you don't even make any sense.

Word order in a sentence. Grammar is punctuation, word endings, etc.

English sytax would be, for example, I saw the boy climb the tree. ASL sytax would place the signs in this order: Tree, boy, climb, see me.
