Highest speed you have achieved in your car/truck?

Hubby drove a friend's 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 4-spd at 144 mph at the 1/4 mile, in 1971.

:jawsdrop: i love old muscle cars ! :)

drove my bro's old car 1992 Saturn SL2 going 118 mph in UTAH during our vacation... I've went 105 mph on my old motorcycle 1995 Suzuki Katana 600CC, oy it could have gone more faster with plenty of RPM but felt too risky then reduce speed and got ticketed at 97 mph which is 22 mph over the limit... oh well but it was sure fun!

well, mr hardhead, yes he is right about 325mph funny car. i just googled it in few sec and got several links and i chose better one. here is...

http://www.nhra.com/2004/events/race08/reports/J_force.html

off topic: my state patrols use mustangs because they are designed as lightweight and better performance cars to catch up those fast cars such as corvettes or whatever u name it.

also my good friend, who works for ford company, showed off that his mustang GT went 200 mph with a secret illegal engine. so i do believe that anything is possible that can run 200 mph.

I am not a hardhead. It is really hard to believe the street Ford Mustang doing 200ish.

Oh yeah obvious it is a funny car. I thought you were speaking of the street Ford Mustangs. The illegal engine, oh yeah and it can hit 200ish. I can agree with that one for sure.

The state patrols use the special tranmission that can catch up many fast cars. They have the chopper, radio, and support system to pull over someone and that sucks! :thumbd: lol I wish the radio never exist in the police department...

I've routinely gone over 100 mph in almost all of the cars I have owned and driven. The latest, my 2K1 ZX2 Escort will only hit 110 mph before the damn CPU speed nanny cuts off the gas...grrr!

The top speed I hit consistently in real life along with the ZX2 Escort has been 110 most of the time especially with 2 cars, a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix (400 cu in Pontiac V8 linked to a Turbo 400) and a 1980 Ford Thunderbird (302 cu in V8 and Ford AOD 4 speed auto tranny) both done on Interstate 75. The highest speed was acheived with my 1984 Audi Coupe GT at 120 mph in 4th gear turning close to the redline, going thru California's US101 Conejo Grade from Thousand Oaks, CA to Ventura, CA. (and it was done at night mind ya lol)

Nowadays, I stick close to 80-95 mph from time to time.....

Some build specs please. Just would like compare. I had this -
1980 Ford Mustang blown 514 from FMS 192 mph built to RACE. Click & notice the build specs of a 514 Notice the 625 HP right out of the box.
Was insulted & told I was uber birdshitting.
So I am very curious about this "secert illegal motor". In comparion to my Mustang built to NHRA specs. Named "Hell's Stallion" for a damn good reason...

Excessive Speed Is My Obsessive Need!!! Stock SUCKS!!! :smoking:

I once did 220 km/h in my old mazda Rx2 ,it did it easy( it was modified) ,could of gone faster too.And once i was doing 180 km/h in a 100 zone and i got pulled over by an off duty cop "how long you had you license ?" "4 years" "well you not gonna have it much longer" .He told me i would get summons in mail.Never happend

ATTN: crazymanwoot

A Ford Mustang with a 514....a 514 is 625hp and then with a blower added, does that sound stock to you dumbass? :slap:

I drive speed about 60. I have to follow the law with signs. I don't want to the cops stop and fine charges me.

Did I said, stock? No way.

By the way. I don't just believe it if the 512 with mustang going 192 mph no way. 160 to 180ish yea that sounds right. If you went for like 10 to 20 miles straight and you would hit 192 mph running in the 8.5 to 9k red line RPM.

It's called GOOGLE....learn to use it dumbass....you need to learn about drag racing... :slap:

I routinely speed at 100 mph (160 kph) or over when I am vacationing.
With my first car, Chevrolet Cavailier, I have gone 100 to 110 a few times on New Jersey Interstate highways.

My second car was a Volkswagen Passat, and I could easily speed to 100 mph. It has 6 cylinders and whatever to make it speed easily and quicker. I'm clueless when it comes to cars.

My third and present car is a wimp car, Kia Rio Cinco, but I have sped 100 mph with that car anyway. In Utah, the speed limit is 75 out in the countryside, and there is nothing for miles and miles between SLC to Saint George. So, I speed down and arrive in Saint George in just a bit over 3 hours. My bf was shocked that I arrived home recently from Las Vegas within 5 1/2 hours with my car. It would take him 7 hours because of his prudent speeding habits.

I have driven on the German autobahn as well. When you see the white sign as my avatar shows, it means there is no speed limit. I have driven up to 180 kph with an Opel Astra. The biggest difference is that the German Autobahn is so much better built and smoothier.

k75, yea i learned alot about autobahn. its hwy lives longer than our own hwy. for instance, down here hwys pavement is 12 to 18 inches thick but autobahn's hwy pavement is 3 ft THICKer ! that was why it is built stronger and smoother. i watched that program in History Channel last year. it was very interesting story how hilter's group designed the autobahn in 30s.

Yes, that is true, the Autobahn was started by the Nazi Party, and it was inspired by the Roman Empire. The Romans built Roman Roads throughout the Empire, and Hitler had the same idea for his Empire. It was a way for the mobilisation of his Army throughout the Empire, and after the war, it was then changed to the super highway network for Germans to use.

People would think that the Autobahn's stance on speed limit would invite numerous accidents, but in fact, most of the accidents are caused by careless foreigners who are surprised by the no-speed-limit rule, and push themselves over the edge. I have had a few near accidents with foreigners on the Autobahn.

Yes, Autobahn is Hilter's idea.

They built good road and easy for the speed drivers.

There're only limit up to 120 km/h if we have some curves on autobahn but we have rare curves on the autobahn.

k75, you must have a big foot..

I've flown at the speed of 135 mph in my first car 73 Olds Cutlass with an F-85 engine on the Mojave freeway in the late afternoon after witnessing the space shuttle landing at Edwards AFB in 1982.

The sunset scenery resembled like one of the Twilight Zone images.

1973 Charger with 1968 440.

Drove over 150 mph since my ol' Charger have 150 mph speedometer.

:)

i've done between 120-125 MPH in my yukon. 5 or 6 people can verify this. was driving from usffd cleveland tourney to rochester and a friend in a nissan told me how fast we were going.

that was when my yukon was mostly stock, with a chip that removed the speed limit governor. my speedometer only goes to 85 mph, but my buddy who followed me all the way told me how fast we were going.

right now, my truck'll never go that fast again, ever - 35" mud tires aren't safe for that fast.
