Charlotte Rioting Is Awful

Know the feeling...went through with the Baltimore unrest...even the next day, schools closed so I couldnt go to work.
 
Better than rioting is for blacks and all people upset with the shooting to stop buying anything in Charlotte. A boycott would hit the city leaders right in the pocketbook and send a clearer message to the people running the city and nobody would get hurt or killed in the process. Unfortunately, the people need a leader like MLK to show the way. His boycott of the Montgomery public transit system after the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955, got the desired results although it took 13 months. A complete boycott of all businesses in Charlotte by people upset with the police shooting would probably get a much quicker response since the city would lose a lot of tax revenue.

I don't know.

The whole state of NC is under a boycott already for its "bathroom" law.

Like you posted, the Montgomery boycott took 13 months. I don't think people today are that patient. Also, it was a boycott against a public transit system, not a private business. A boycott against all businesses would also hurt the mom-and-pop businesses, including minority-owned businesses and minority workers.

Besides, I think protestors enjoy the social aspect of gathering and filming their activities.

It would help if they would release the video recordings. Also, I would like to know the forensic results from testing the gun. They say that the victim's fingerprints and blood are on the gun but some people are suspicious of that. What would be more convincing would be to find his fingerprints and/or DNA on the magazine and bullets from inside the gun. Also, was there an intact serial number on the gun? Then they can trace the ownership of it.

Yes, that's true, but a total boycott of all business in Charlotte would take a lot of money out of the city's coffers and once they see what the boycott is doing to their bottom line, they might have a little more transparency and might release the video and take responsibility for their actions. They might even think about retraining their officers to listen when someone is telling them something that is pertinent to the action that they are responding to and perhaps back off to let the situation defuse itself so they don't have to shoot and kill someone. Basically these senseless shootings by police need to end. Yes, the protesters might enjoy the social aspect but if someone could show them what something like a boycott could do to the leaders of the city, they might decide to stay home and get justice another way.

It will only help if it shows Mr. Scott with a gun. If he has a book in his hand, all holy he double toothpicks is going to break out.

I posted the video the wife took , I was surprise that was being show on TV with the riots going on.

I wonder if the wife could tell us the title of the book he was supposed to be reading. That might add to her statement's credibility.

I haven't yet seen a detailed time line of events. That would be useful. That is, who did what when. Why was the couple separated at the scene before the shooting? Can Mrs. Scott tell us to whom she was shouting and why?

The videos are important but they don't answer every question.

It's not just the content of the videos that is important. It's the willingness to be open about everything. That's how releasing the videos could help.

Attempting or appearing to cover up evidence is always bad.
 
According to the police chief, at press conference right now, they will soon show the videos. One is a dash cam video, the other is a body cam video.

He says Scott was in possession of a hand gun.
 
I saw that too but b/c of the football games the only station that had the news CC never stay on the whole time.

I do agree with your statement. I wonder why the police chief didn't release the videos and photos immediately. Maybe it would not lead to the riot. I watched the police cam and guy wore an ankle holster on his right ankle clearly. He had marijuana on him. I really don't care about marijuana. I am curious his wife said that he had TBI. I've read the medical articles marijuana helps treat TBI.

Is medical marijuana legal in NC? Anyone confirm that for me?

it looks like this is trying to be pass , when I heard the victim had TBI and was smoking marijuana I knew why he was smoking it. I knew a war vet that smoked it for this reason.
 
His wife said he had a TBI and just taken his meds and they hadn't taken effect yet. She also said he didn't have a gun, it was a book he was holding and she said if they waited he would be okay. She also said don't shoot him. Unfortunately, nobody from the NC police wanted to listen to what she had to say and decided shooting him was the best answer. I've known a lot of police officers in my life and NONE would listen to anyone. I don't know if it's in their training or if they all lacked common sense, but it's a trait that every one of them have had.
 
Yes but he was just driving, wasn't he? The wife didn't say what kind of med he was on. If I was on strong med that make me drowsy will affect my motor skills. I have to find somebody to drive me then.

Some people with TBI should not carry a gun. Depends on how severe it is. I'm sure the wife knows it. All of these medical articles said if you have TBI, you have to unload gun and lock it up in the safe.
 
Way to be civil these days....gotta thank the media for playing with our minds.
