Cat fight off dog attacking boy

If you see the whole video it looks a little bit suspicious. It starts by showing the kid playing on the side of the car, then it shows the cat, then it shows the dog walking around on the other side of the car before it attacks the kid. Seems kinda funny someone would be filming all three before the attack and have good views of all three prior to the attack and if you watch the clock it resets several times during the video. I mean how would you know to film all three or know something like this was going to happen? Seems fishy to me.

No one was filming this ! The whole thing was taken by a home security system. Didn't you even read the story before making your comment ???

"A California man posted some pretty incredible video to YouTube today. It appears to be video from a home security system that shows the family cat springing to action and fighting off a stray dog that attacked the man’s son." The parents saw the whole thing on their home security system after it happen.

Yes, I did read it, but usually the security camera timers are in sinc with each other and how come the mom or the woman came out so quick and then left the kid that was attacked behind. Still seems fishy to me.

who cares if its fishy but i can see that cat chased a dog which is too real to me. family cat can do that when it comes to protecting family. :D

When they spliced the shots from the different cameras together for youtube there was probably time overlaps as interesting things were happening in more then one zone at a time.

What WDYS said^^^
And the security camera video from three locations (one from side yard, one from driveway and last one from front) was edited for YouTube upload and TV news. That's it. Nothing fishy...

Second link in post #38 shows the 45 min long video (second of three videos in the middle of the article) but no CC. The mother was yelling at the neighbors obviously. The neighbor called 911. The fire truck came. Look at the time.

Well, I read that a cat expert said that it's the first time he ever saw a cat defending a human.

Yes. I can see that some cat family could have protects human from strange things. yes its very rare.

Whatever I accidently got hurt from something in the kitchen. My cat came to me and checked on me because i was scearming painfully many times. Cat came first then my kids come second.

It's not fishy at all. Dogs usually react when they see small kids or bikes. They don't even snarl at first. They just charge, trust me. I used to be in newspaper route for two years and had to deal with dog encounters daily. Sometimes I had to bribe them with food a few times so I can drop off a newpspaer on the porch. Dogs are extremely territorial, and see a bike or small kid as a threat.

Well, those videos were taken in Bakersfield. Let me tell you Bakersfield is the armpit of California. Gangbangers like to hang there, and doing their shooting thing.

CA law requires dogs on leash for a reason like this unfortunate situation. However, I read other sources that an owner of a dog pulled out of the garage and a dog escaped. An owner didn't even hesitate to call 911.

This dog is a lab/Chow Chow. well, Chow Chow are high maintenance. They certainly require attention. My cousin's Chow Chow was able to jump over 5'10" concrete fence so many times.

Are you serious about Chow Chow? I am 5' 10". I can't imagine that it can jump over me.

Yes, I am serious about that dog. I've witnessed her jump, and I couldn't believe my eyes. The way she ran toward the concrete fence was amazing. She has strong back legs, and is able to reach on the top of the concrete fence with her front paws. Her back paws dug into the concrete fence to push her up over the top. Haha! I had to run toward the fence to grab her, but she escaped.

She's very beautiful. She is all black and has a purple tongue, But she's so HYPER 24 hours a day. She loves to lick constantly. While I was visiting my grandma, my cousin's house was only 6 houses down. They usually called us for help to look for his dog, because she escaped so many times from the backyard. I was able to find her only two blocks away. She's adorable, but she's a major pain in the butt. *SMH*

A lab/chow mix...? eek

I once babysat a 2 year old chow puppy. These dogs are loyal to a fault. His owners visited for the first 2-3 days but after that couldn't as they were in the middle of moving from one house to a new one. By day 3 the dog was getting annoyed plus having to listen to a stranger (me). Dog bit me badly (both arms- nice biiiig scars...:/) one night.

They're definitely high maintenance too. One of the owners even read up on Chows (after the accident...) and learned they were once bred as Chinese watch dogs and trained to attack for the jugular vein eep. Dog was quarantined for the required period but the owners kept him...why I'll never know as at the time they had 2 children under the age of 5 (later a third child was born). I also knew he was regularly tied to a tree in the backyard but he WAS allowed in the house.

A purple tongue is the dominant trait in Chows (their coat show up in black, yellow and red(I think). Definitely hyper...Kerry was omg... and my aunt's little 'faux poodle' (he was a mutt really) HATED him.

The mother was not thinking clearing . the whole could had been avoidable if dog had a collar on . The owner may had been able to stop the dog from escaping by grabbing it collar . The point of the video is to show a cat protecting a small boy from a vicious attack from a dog. There is nothing fishy about that, you're missing the whole point of this. It's not every day we see a cat do something like this and what this cat is amazing .

Haven't ever seen dogs frisbee catching competition , it looks like some dogs are flying through the air and they're jumping very high.

Did you guys read the dad's comment on his youtube.com page?

The dad's name is Roger Triantafilo. He answered the most popular question as to why the mom ran away.

Question: Why did the mom run away?
Answer: After checking his wounds she made sure the dog did not return for a second attempt. The owners were there also and she was bit by the dog as she tried to pin him in his yard. The owners did get control of the dog and secured him in which she immediately returned to attending to our son. I did not include that video because it was not so much about the dog but about the cats actions.

That's quite informative. Standard Poodles have been trained for military for hundreds of years. And I'm not fan of toy and miniature poodles. My grandma had those toy poodles for years. They're hyper, and loud. I read somewhere else that small dogs require attention than large dogs. I guess, they don't like to feel left out.

Marty is a small dog and he does not need a lot of attention , he more like a cat than dog some time.

I don't think size matters-- more so the breed. Jack Russell terriers are super high maintenance and can be very high strung and hyper. Not all are but it's general. Bigger dogs like..hm not really sure but have read that labs and retrievers can be very mellow. The Chow I mentioned apparently was fairly mellow with the three girls always playing around him- that I know of. Opposite is true too.. some breeds of small dogs are mellow and low maintenance and some larger breeds are super hyper.

I think how the dog behave has a lot to with the owner.

Because she was running to get her rape whistle. They don't allow guns in California.
