Hello I am a lesbian, partially deaf

:welcome: to AllDeaf, Pikula!

I hope you stay around here and enjoy! :D

Tengo tirado. THIS is where it came from.

Stein isn't against gays and lesbians. He's against some of our beliefs for his own reasons. Honestly, so long as we can get along I don't care if he's been measured to be straight, is Native American, and not a lesbian or is that gay ... Just kidding about the last!

If he didn't like G&Ls, we wouldn't be having offline conversations. There's no malice in what he says to me. We just have different beliefs. Stein also doesn't know the cultural difference. Now you do, dude. So get over it.:D
While you're struggling with that, I remind you that we are the same. As you are Catholic and have your beliefs, we're GLBT and have ours.

Are you talking to ME??? If you are first of all I am NOT a dude, I am a Jewish woman and I am a straight woman that has nothing against people dating who they want to. You needs to get your fact straight if you are talking to me.

This is a little overboard. I'm not backtracking or spending more time here.

In general, many of us make assumptions because stating who and what we are isn't spelled out. No offense was intended. Take it out on someone else or take it out on me, it doesn't matter. If we all set the facts, assumptions won't be made. But that's not how life works. Call me Catholic, so what. Call me a dude and I'll blow it off or nicely correct you because you don't know who or what I am (as I don't expect you to see the posting where I do spell it out). We are often undefined people behind our screen names. I'm not looking at everyone's profile and it's often not in there anyway.

Let there be peace on earth ... Enough of this, wrote the Jewish woman (ME).

Sbirn, these are all very good points. No condemnation or condenscending remarks from me when I say this (I promise, not my intention).

As a HoH person, whom has several family members in the Armed Forces, whose grandfather was killed in WWII, whose great uncle was killed in Pearl Harbor, and a person who grew up wanting to serve my country in the Armed Forces, it was quite a let down when I was told I could not, based on a biological element of my existence. In essence, I was flagrantly discriminated against. It was quite a let down I can assure you.

What that essentially means, is that I was cut off from ever having any Veterans benefits. I don't get that 10 or 15 percent discount at Home Depot. I do not qualify for the GI Bill. I do not get special discounts on insurance. I am unable to utilize any benefits for veterans, and I cannot even use the VA. All because I have a biological difference than the people the Armed Forces are looking for.

However, I have come to understand why they did what they did. I do not necessarily agree with their decision to do what they do, but I can respect it.

Hi. Since you went there about disability, I want to say I recently went on disability this past April and if you are thinking about it start one because it takes several months. So you don't want to wait until last minute financially speaking. Good luck sweetie
.

Not sure can apply with my out of state license and I can't get an instate license because they won't accept my gender marker on my current license in this state.

Steinhauer, I'm sorry and since the deaf, Deaf, and HoH are getting into fields I never dreamed could be reached, you were discriminated against and it would be hard to figure out how to adapt to "our" loses. I'm sorry. Football (the Seattle guy) is deaf but it's a visual game. I was watching the dB meter hit 107 and my partner said it's the noisiest stadium. Those fans are going to have hearing problems.

I called the Armed Forces to see if I could enlist. I think I was 22 or 23 and they had no idea I had any issues except they said I was too old.

I know others may think it's a little odd (FR made the point :) lol) that you're a nice guy and have no mean-spirited intentions. The list I made about why people may have nasty intentions is because it was sort of asked, perhaps inadvertently. I've seen and heard a lot.

I'm glad you're here. Diversity is what it's all about and those of us who are GLBT know that. It's something that was engrained in me at any rate.

There is too much helpful info here for one misunderstanding to run me off. I'll just tread lightly from now on, lol. Yes I know you j/k.
That's sorta what I tried to say. There's a lot of stuff here. If we don't learn to blow it off, we're kinda a word I can't use here. Why tread lightly? Lookit Steinhauer and I worked it out. That makes anything possible?:giggle: We actually respect each other and I really appreciate that. Why tread lightly. Say what ya want and move on. If you don't the forum becomes kind of useless. (No attacks just being honest.)

AD has changed for the better. In the older days there were a lot more attacks. I watched and left a couple of times. I'm too old for that goofiness. We have to get past our misunderstandings or they'll drag us to the concrete. It's not worth it. Learning is and that's what you said. That's why I'm still here. I've been hit by a couple of trolls in a different thread (I can say that after 30 years in IT) earlier. I blocked their ID so I cannot be affected by them anymore. Not true here.

How do you get out of this purgatory?

If it makes you feel any better, I went to various diners in NY. I was was addressed as, "Sir," more than once followed by a quick apology. So, it wasn't my "ID" that begat the "sir," it was how I looked. I was embarrassed as all heck. I changed that eventually with streaked blonde hair and makeup.

Whatdidyousay, I really am sorry you were offended. I hope you believe it was not meant to be that way. Now I understand what happened, though. I understand it matters to you and I will never refer to you as dude again. My friend in NY who was a dude, called me dudette. But I will not do that to you.

We all have different ways of addressing what happens to us and no one is right or wrong. I'm actually trying to smoke a peace pipe here without the tobacco. But I mean every word I've said.

Take care.

It isn't your fault. The name has no gender to it so how were you supposed to know? Just like my name too. There is no way to tell on certain ID/names around here unless you are here long enough to learn everyone's gender by their neutral names. I've been referred to the wrong gender because of my name here or in other sites so I am not offended by that.

Manga as in "eat" in Italian? Yust curious.

Yeah, I know it's not my fault and I explained that. I appreciate your response. But what... took it personally and I wondered if there was something driving the seeming anger. There was.

I don't think I apologized the first time because of precisely what you said, smarty and I mean that with a smile on my face and you realize the circumstances. But what... was hurt and said it again and why. So I felt some bit of compassion and apologized even though I couldn't tell the gender (no one could). I won't remove the apology because it was directed more at the hurt she has seemed to have been through and we have to move on here and not get bogged down in this little stuff.

Tanks again, MangaReader.

FF: She (what...) has been back in the last explanation of why she was taking my referring to her as a "dude" personally. I hope she returns. Stein did and man, he's a good guy.

No need to take it personally. If you look at her past posts, her responses tend to be in a um angry manner, if that's the right word for it. She may not present herself that way but that is what it seems to me.

As for my name, manga is a Japanese graphic novel translated into English or any other language. I love reading mangas. They have storylines that run into numerous volumes. Like reading a novel in a comic book format.

Thanks for the explanation. The last thing I wanted to do was make somewhat upset even though it was beyond my control. I'm attempting to be what I was unknowing hired to be at one of my last jobs. I interviewed for a software testing position of a well known online and offline book companies. They also did online and printed magazines.

What I didn't know was there was a nice kid in my department who was on the verge of getting fired. Dave (interviewing manager) later told me he believed I'd be able to bridge the gap with the business people in PA and help the kid (he was a kid compared to me) be a better tester and testcase/testplan writer. That's what happened. The young man stayed on and ended up with much better communications with the business (no laughin' at this allowed for those who know me :) ).

Okay, let me try one more further explanation of manga (and it sounds truly remarkable and FUN). Is that like taking something like, "The Tale of Two Cities," (a novel) and making a classic comic out of it? The difference seems to be the story lines that run into numerous volumes.

I know it's offtrack and I hope the rest of y'all are okay with this. Tis about learning. Manga in Italian (I don't know how to spell it) means EAT "Manga! Manga!" So, ya go from a size 8 to a size 10 quickly.

:( OP has not returned yet.

You guys, you should welcome her here. Not dissing her! Well, congrats, you managed to get her pushed away from here. :|

Anybody should be welcomed here whether you approve gay lifestyle or not...

I don't think she was really pushed away by the talk... I think that we get a lot of posters here who post once or twice and just leave. I have seen her post outside of this thread in other posts, maybe she just decided she wanted to avoid some of the backlash and was mature about it. :hmm:
