Nope, not simple, TX. Doctors lie and have biases like other people. And they have more power than many other people also.

If the doctor is doing something that is causing "MAJOR MAJOR Psychological problems" ...prove it. And sue. The only power Doctors have is the power you give them.

A lot of hearing people think not having their hearing is the worst thing that could happen to them. To be honest it isn't, and not having hearing isn't something that needs to be fixed. I'm Hard of hearing and I've been that way since i was 5 yr old. People said it always needs to be fix but i finally looked at my mom and said i don't want to try to figure this out anymore i'm done.

That's true in some aspects...people do take things for granted....and when you've lost something after having it, it hurts...and it affects people in so many ways. If there is nothing that can be done for someone that has lost their hearing, sight, arm, leg, etc., etc., then it's something we have to deal with...but if there is something that is offered that might help, I see nothing wrong with it...and don't consider it as a "fix"....

Let me think...:hmm: Who wanted me dead when I was a kid growing up deaf? I have no ****ing idea.
 
There are three possible things a doctor does.

Under CA law, a doctor is required to provide all informations (CI, speech therapy and ASL including a deaf school) to hearing parents of a deaf baby.

Number one - a doctor provides some (not all) informations. That's a violation of the law.

Number two - a doctor provides all informations but recommends CI and speech therapy only. That's a violation of the law.

Number three - a doctor provides all information but recommends that the parents do their "homework" to find what is the best interest for their deaf baby. That's not a violation of the law. Which means that the parents are responsible that they contact a deaf school or a deaf organization to find out more about deaf culture. If they didn't, that means they don't give a shit about deaf culture.

IMHO, the parents want their deaf child to be normal so that's why they choose CI and/or speech therapy.
