Anyone tried a carved full shell silicone ear mold and find it better?

Saw someone walk past me today with a different looking ear mold so I've just looked it up and the Internet says this:

Carved shell earmoulds are similar to standard shells but the interior is carved out to provide improved sealing properties. Lighter in weight, carved shells adapt well to jaw movements during speech and mastication without compromising the seal. The carved shell is less conspicuous while providing better retention in the ear. Suitable for severe to profound hearing loss for both paediatric and adult users. Available in acrylic, silicone and UV materials and in a range of colours.

Something that I'm definely going to be asking for if it is actually better.

I've never hear of it until now :)

I wonder if it would allow ear molds to last longer before feedback problems arise?!

My aids have the hard plastic insert(mold) and it breaks seal when I talk and gets the feedback that I never had issues with the silicone molds.
Mine are high powered, processor behind the ear and speaker built into the earmold, so just a thin wire connects them thats barely noticeable.

I thought it sounded like skeleton molds too but I think it's that the outside looks like a full shell but the inside is carved thinner so that it doesn't contact as much. Sounds interesting.

No not Skelton molds, still full shell mold.

Picture shows it curves inwards slightly.

In away, I can see why it provides a better seal as there is less material so moves better when talking etc.

Looks really cool. My skeletons move when I chew, I might ask my audi about those next time.

You can even get Carved Skeleton Shell Ear molds for people who wear skeleton molds. Again they say they still move well with you when talking etc.

Ive never seen in real life these types of hearing aids. Would these be suitable for a profound loss? They look very high tech looking! :D

What do people think about open jaw impressions for severe to profound losses? Are they actually better?

That's how I've done mine the past few times. And will probably do it again tomorrow. Seems to work. I have no problems with jaw movements effecting feedback, etc.

So you hold your mouth open the whole time they're making the impression? Interesting....awkward lol but interesting!

Audi gives me something to bite on to keep my mouth in the same position. And a tissue for the drool. :giggle:

Hmmm, I'll have to ask about that when I go to get a new tube and molds!

interesting ... sounds promising. Hopefully someone has tried it already before I do... :)

I should get an extra pair. Does anyone have multiple sets of molds and switch them out? Probably go through tubes faster since they'd be hard to switch once they hardened, but it might be nice to have them hit in different places sometimes.
Hmmmm

A lot of people want 2 sets of ear molds but due to the price of them, they don't. Altho I have read on here the someone bought 2 sets of ear molds, one colors and one clear. She found she never swapped to her clear ones. I think she is a she.
