A tutor

It took me a year to find a personal tutor in ASL - I advertised everywhere from craigslist to facebook. Lots of hearing people responded but no deaf people. finally, someone responded to me after seeing my request on some deaf group on facebook.

A whole year?? I've already been deaf 7 months ( not really long). I can't believe their are not more tutors as they seem to make pretty good money. I just want to start this new part of my life.

Does anyone have anymore information on how to find aomeone who can help me start learning AL?

You don't need to hire only tutors, just hire any deaf person fluent in ASL. So, start joining deaf groups and clubs, etc etc.

I met my deaf mentor through a local ASL coffee/chat. He's been very helpful - and I fill in with learning more online.

I like it, Rio!

:ty:I will have to pick a day to do this one. It's a BIG step for me to put on a new hairstyle. If not this short, I am sure a longer version will do :giggle:

Um why not? They're fragile and I wouldn't even want to check them in. I'm just wrapping them up with clothes in my little carry on.

worse comes to worse, you will have to put it in your suitcase (so wrap it up very very well) but if one is allowed to bring duty free bottles of alcohol on the plane I don't see why one can't bring on a glass bowl.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'll be fine.

That's what I have been pondering. In the airport here you can buy things that are not allowed at security checkpoints, including hot cheeseburgers, inside the airport.

Go to a bar restaurant in the airport... There's steakhouses with knives, forks, and plates you can use in an attack on the plane.

I'm thinking I need some more info. Botts told me about the IPod touch to use the Dragon app for voice to text. I have an IPad but looking for something more portable when I'm out. Doctor app, shopping etc. here's my husbands question?????

Do you need WIFI or Wireless for Dragon to work on IPod?? I have no idea what this means, but your info would help.
Someone else told me to get Dragon Premiere and that it works a lot better than Dragon. The PREMIERE version not available on IPAD. Regular Dragon version just so-so on IPAD.
What ever info you have I will hear it all. Thanks

Lanapoo! What did I miss? I thought you were driving from New York to Cali? So your flying home?

I'm flying home for Christmas and then back. And then my friend flies in on January 5 to help me move back in a truck.

Dragon doesn't work without wifi or wireless. You would need a different app for a speech to text if you want it to work without wifi.

Sorry, Im pretty slow at this. Do you know what App works without WIFI or wireless. If so, is it any good? My kids want to get this if it will help to communicate. I don't want them spending all that money if it's not any better than what I have. Do you use IPod touch outside of the home?
