Nuke em.

Still waiting until Iran gives full unfettered access to their nuclear facilities if it's just for peaceful means (i.e. electrical generation).

Oh, if the U.S. can get the approval from the U.N. Security Council to go ahead and give the green light for force in Iran. Sure.

Would you support Obama authorizing use of military?

Sure, as long as the U.N. Security Coucil gives him the green light on authorizing the use of force. And that we have a coalition acting together in support of stopping Iran should the time come. There are caveats here should Iran already attack Israel (technically, they have attacked Israel) before such an authorization.

What about you?

why? so you can blame Obama for a mess like Bush on Iraq and Afghanistan?

you're a shameless bunch, aren't ya?

I hate the Ayatollahs and would love to see them toppled and Iran liberated. I'm sure many Iranians feel the same way. Everything we used as a false pretense to start a war with Iraq would actually be true in the case of Iran.

The problem with Iran is that we created the mess there when we overthrew their democratically elected replacement to the first shah and then installed a new shah (the first shah's son) in his place. Iran marked the beginning of the US's long campaign of empire building by using CIA operatives and corporate/financial mechanisms to enslave developing nations.

Would need a lot more proof than we "had" going into Iraq. I do not recall UN giving the thumbs up for that operation, either. I thought we (US and GB) kind of thumbed our nose at them.

for sure the Iranians would prefer a different governing body but bombing is definitely not the answer. All that would be accomplished is increased hatred of the West, and increased Islamic fundamentalism especially if civillians are killed.

I think the most effective tactic would be a repeat of the Cold War.

Iran is already undergoing thru violent revolution

And, to win that war should we (or Israel) be out spending Iran like Regan did to Russia? I don't doubt it would work, but they are not really in a position of one-up-manship, IMO.

Who is not in a position of one up manship?

Iran, they cannot build more bombs nor scare us from a costly war. To have a cold war you have to have two sides posturing a deterrent. Now, you could say the deterrent might be oil, but, clearly, they could not keep the oil from us. And, militarily, they are not match for the U.S. or Israel. So, a cold war might not be feasible.

They have the wealthiest supply of oil in the world, they do have an edge. And if they're attacked, and Israel was one of the nations who attacked, I shudder to think what will happen.

US is too poor to launch another 10 year war...so I highly doubt they would go for force over diplomacy.

Basically, we want to maintain the status quo. As you said, nobody want Israel to bomb Iran.

However, do not think we could not fight another war. We have the ability to fight three world wars at one time. What we did in Iraq and Afghanistan did not even require conscription, it was about a 10th of what we could produce militarily. So, force is definitely not out of the question. And, I think that is what stops Iran from doing something stupid.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if any of this turn violent.

The convenient thing here; we got a bunch of equipment and soldiers over there already, and we got land access through Iraq. No need to ask permission...
