Can I interview someone please?!

If no one tells them, then who will? If the OP really wants to do better and is genuinely interested in interpreting, then she would come back, apologize and take this as a learning experience in interacting with d/hh people.

I really want the best for her as a student. However, I don't think it's right that we should allow ourselves to be some sort of lab rat either.

I agree. I think that not responding will send them the message that it's ok to repeat the actions, and that nobody here cares. Telling them off should get the message across.

They're essentially strolling in here, saying that they waited till the last minute and asking people to do their homework for them all because they decided to do this last minute. She didn't say anything about "it just got assigned" or "<insert legit cause of waiting>". On top of that, there wasn't a "please" to be found in regards to DOING the interview, just for what information they wanted.

Maybe this is her first ever assignment, not a good start. Whenever I am to meet a new group of people, I do my homework before entering the door. It is called good public relations.

Either that, or enter the room quietly, observe and learn the rules of interaction to avoid venturing out and making a utter fool of myself, but then that's just me.

Believe it or not, many of us don't like the old paternalistic hearie garbage of telling us what to do.
 
Are you calling me a Cretan? Did you think what I was doing was telling others what to do? If so, you are mistaken. I was only expressing my opinion because I simply don't understand why new members are often given such a hard time, here or on any other forum (even though I understand it can get frustrating with people coming and going without any true or honest intent).
 
I really apologize everyone took offense to my post : ( I actually work 50 hours a week managing a salon and am in school full time. I try my best and attempted to set up an interview at a Deaf school but the principle never got back to me.

I spoke with a girl in my class and she recommended visiting a Deaf site as she had done to speak with those in the community. It may have been last minute, but my intentions were not to "use" all of you and just leave. I actually fell in love with ASL and the Deaf community and thought people here would be willing to help.

The interview was supposed to be done face to face, but like I said, I am trying my best to keep up with everything.

Thank you Sunny signs and Journey for not attacking me and giving me the benefit of the doubt.

I apologize again if I upset anyone.

I think reactions would have been different had you said this in your first post. There are a lot of people who come her, looking for answers, that then never return, and a lot of them have to do their homework last minute. Most people seem to be taking the easy way out in that respect.
 
Makes me wonder about the mortality rate of these classes is??? Probably pretty high, mostly because many thought/think it's an easy grade and have no intent to pursue anything in the field....that's just me wondering out loud.
