For those who want to practice Finger-spelling

I for the life of me can't figure out WHY you signed up for, or continue to visit this message board .... you don't want to discuss anything, you don't want to see anything in a different way, you don't have a clue about the deaf community or ASL (which is obvious from your posts, regardless of the books you've read which may lead you to believe otherwise).

Why are you here?

p.s. do you have Asperger's? (that's a serious question btw, I'm not being sarcastic or facetious)

As an HFA, I thought he might too.

OMG!!! Anji!!! I just thought the EXACT same thing!! His posts are eerily similar to my friend's who has Asperger's.

The fixation on one topic, excessive use of quotes, and not really responding to people.

No offense, Drphil.

My employment before retirement-Accountant.
I don't have "aspergers" nor ADD/autism either Just real deaf!
As mentioned before: alldeaf.com appeared to have "interests" on deaf matters. So far the bulk of my comments centred in Cochlear Implants/TTY-which I have.

My previous comment- "disappeared" 3 times. The word "test" was to determine
if another try would work-did.

If you want people to understand that you are completely, totally, stone, zero hearing, 100% audiologically deaf (which is I believe what you are meaning by posting "real deaf"?)

You just need to say "completely deaf" - then people will clearly understand that you me no hearing at all, 100% deaf ... with absolutely no "cultural connotations". "completely deaf" has the added bonus of also being correct English Grammar, which is helpful as well.

Is English your native language? or do you primarily speak something else (French, German, Spanish etc?) ... just curious

Wirelessly posted

A common trait with Asperger's if I am not mistaken, they like to hear themselves talk. They also like to read only what appeals to them hence the fact they may look like they are ignoring you.

English is the only spoken/written language I use. As for the observations re: aspergers: check your mirror! No I haven't been tested for ADD/aspergers syndrome- no reason. Wild comments on computers notwithstanding! Being deaf is enough-for the moment!
I am highly aware of the verbal minefields of the word "deaf". Just read the comments here!

I think he is an older person who is not used to computers. His comments mirror many retired folks I met on the computer.

Deafgal, if that was the case why is it that our dear Botts gets along famously with everyone here? We love her! It's drphil and his false sense of security in claiming he is "real deaf" when no one in the Deaf community - young and old- uses it. drphil, why are you fooling us and yourself?

To escape the verbal minefield of a simple word-deaf. I am not fooling anyone as it seems that being described as 100% deaf apparently is incorrect.Seems "stone" deaf has greater loss-minus 200%? I know that "ASL deaf" can in fact be a hearing person that uses ASL. Alice in deaf land!

We all know you're MEDICALLY DEAF. As all of us are. You're not grasping the concept of the Deaf we're speaking of, nor acknowledging it thus the resentment.

I am not 100% deaf, but I identify myself as Deaf. Never hearing impaired. Hope you see it.

Love the new signature, Botti.

I for one am glad that Dr.Phil does not inflict himself on the Deaf community. I want to have a good time without any drama.

Thanks, sallylou. :)

Alldeaf.com is a group supposedly relating to deaf interest. Seems to wide range of opinions here. Why should anyone else "resent" my opinions- expressing them to well?

Perhaps because you keep referring to a book, not forming your own opinion....

Basically what I am saying is that you haven't really produced any opinions that comes from you.

Really! They are all my opinions based in part on my ongoing experiences: Hearing losses over extended time to becoming actually deaf in 2006.
I am aware if I didn't read some of this stuff from CHS/library than the comment would be: gee ONLY your personal experience!
Is this Heads I win/Tails you lose?
Not with standing I am supposedly " unable to read"(odd I can read this computer screen) in reality I have lots of books etc on various subjects which interest me. Doesn't follow I accept what I read.
