still denying global warming?

Strange but true: despite blazing hot temperatures, sometimes in the triple digits, sweeping across the United States, the opposite is true in much of South America where a cold front has actually claimed more than 400 lives in parts of Peru and Argentina. The temperatures, which have hovered in the upper 30s in the southern part of the continent qualify as a rather typical winter by North American standards. But in some places, like the Andes mountains the thermometer has dropped as low as -11 degrees F and decimated alpaca and cattle herds. The usually subtropical areas affected are particularly vulnerable because the populations are largely poor, live in conditions that are not equipped for cold weather and the governments do not have the infrastructure to handle winter conditions.

Note the differences between 2007 (the year that Gore said ice would disappear withint 5 years) to 2010? Three years ago to today....

So what happens when the temperatures dip again? Will we start hearing that global warming is still happening but is on hiatus?

Global warming includes fluxuation of temps, not just the rise in temps. It is a fluxuation to either end of extreme. People look at the phrase and are far too literal in deriving meaning.

You know that you can have a LOT of ice and still be warming?

To help you understand how it's possible, imagine that the temperature is 5 degrees. Naturally, water becomes ice. Now, with global warming, the temperature increases by 1 degree. What does that mean? It will have 6 degrees. And that's still cold enough to freeze water!

Global warming is GLOBAL.. it's not about a specific location.

Apparently you missed my comment about how Al Gore said the all of the ice would melt in 5 years in 2007. Which infer, most directly, that with global warming we expect the ice to melt completely away. We're at Year Three (summer)..and ice has been gaining since then.

I'll give you 10 darkdog points if you can identify who said "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts." Hint: I'm pretty sure I've used it on this forum before.

Let people deny global warming whatever they want but you have say lol.

If he knows who said that..... How would that contribute to this thread?

It's someone who, in my opinion, has a lot of credibility when it comes to the scientific method and would probably be horrified at the group think and hubris of today's global warming crowd if he were still around.

Did IPCC say that the world's gonna be without ice in 2010?

Data? Who needs 'em when you already have an expert...Al Gore...who said back in December 2008 in Germany that the "Entire north polar ice cap will be gone in 5 years."

Have I ever cited Al Gore as "source?" Have scientists used Al Gore? Anyone here citing Al Gore?

I've used IPCC, never once did I say anything about Al Gore.
