But they shift. There are kids that are performing as an "A" when they had been put into a B candidate group. They performed as "A-Auditory learner" though they had been a "B candidate".

There is no specified criteria for longitudinal follow up. This is not research. Nor is it based on valid research. It is an advertisement.

When you mentioned "research," I thought it was some boring papers written by experts. But........ I'm rather disconcerted that you are using the BionicEar phamplet as a deciding factor to determine course of action for Kat in terms of educational development and such......

Then I amend my statement. Most kindergartners are in class for less than 6 hours a day....they run 1/2 days.

Not in Utah school for the Deaf. All Kindy kids are full days. (As are all special ed classes here.)

Advertisement is a powerful tool. :cool2:

No, that was explaining what I meant when I said different "levels of users". I told you the books I read. I have also had her evaluted by professionals, and of course, in the end, I make the decisions, because I am her mother.

Ahhhh, starting to remember why I said f--- off to this site in the first place....

What else do you expect Advanced Bionics to say? Do you really think they'd publish an advertisement emphasizing the fact that poorer performing candidates hear worse post-CI than they did pre-CI? I don't think so.

No one has questioned your right to make decisions as a mother. The books you mentioned are written by the same authors that developed the program in the advertising brochure they wrote. Doesn't that tell you anything? What have you read by the experts in deaf education, linguistics, and deaf psychology of learning?

I had my daughter evaluated by a premier pediatric neuropsychologist affiliated with Gallaudet. Her research is on lingustics and the effects on the mind. She was the first professional to recommend a CI.

And that would support what? She evaluated your daughter. You got the results of the initial evaluation, and that was the end of that. Has virtually nothing to do with educational placement, or the fact that you are using a CI manufacturers advertising to attempt to support your claims.

You asked if I have information from other sources. I am telling you I do. (Actually, she has been seen twice)

hmm.... so you just want to find experts (with misguided agenda) & source to confirm your belief? :hmm:

Misguided? Interesting. She is a fluent ASL user, has a Deaf child and works at Gallaudet.

My son saw a pediatric neurologist several times. What's the point? The only information you have from those visits are the assessment results on your daughter.

And she is a medical specialist, not an educational specialist.

need more detail than that. how was her deaf child raised? works as what? is her deaf child a CI user? what kind of education and school did he/she get? etc. etc.
