Son Becomes Athiest, Mother Becomes Angry

Here's a video clip of this guy who admits to being an athiest and his mother becomes extremely pissed off.

The mother is obviously displaying religious psychosis! :eek:

The best I can do, alot more is said but.. you know.. deafness..it gets in the way:

mom: give me a fucking break Micheal. you know what, We need to start going to church every week.
kid: i don't believe in god
mom: fuck that blah blah
kid: blah blah
mom: all of sudden there's no god
kid: yeah
mom: then you're going to get NOTHING for christmas. because thats what christmas is about!
kid: OK!
mom: NO, It's not okay Micheal! It is NOT okay!
*film gets cut off*


Gotta love it. Bribery. Cussing. Setting a fine example! Mom going nuts. Dad drinking his coffee silently. Kid's being calm.

But after watching this video... isn't this a form of abuse?

This is why I think religion should not be forced on kids. Such as alchohol and drugs shouldn't be forced either. Kids are not able to make these kind of rational choices until they are grown up. Once they reached a certain age, then they can make a decision for themselves.

Wow...the mother is a great role model of a churchgoing devout Catholic by cussing at her son? Oh boy...:eek3:
 
o_o... My mum handled it so much better when I told her what I believe, infact we debate about it sometimes. She doesn't like that I don't believe in God but she doesn't give me shit about it. I haven't completely dismissed that there might be an omnipotient being out there, estienally a "God" but I do knock the bible though.
 
Religious psychosis? Get real.

Having a son that deviates from your family's core belief is a big deal. If I were religious, it would upset me if my son or daughter become a fool of the Atheism religion.
 
Well known lady, forgot her name, who is strong athiest really got pissed and disowned her son for being a preacher. Marilyn O' Hare, I think is her name. She hated her own son and disown him bec he became a christian. It's not by label christians, or athiest or anything, its individual. That is major problem in the society, whatever a person or label did, affect the whole and making a stereotypical and also blaming . So as of this, christian woman and athiest son, so what. Only individual incident, not label of the whole.

That's wrong too...we should allow our children to be separate individuals than us. I hope I will do the same for my chidlren but sometimes when they are adults, we parents may forget that and criticize them for the paths they choose. This situation and the angry Catholic mother in the video are definitely extreme!

Not as extreme like Marilyn O'Hare, I met her son, he came for special preaching at the church where I use to go. He been going thru so much and very painful moment. He still loves his mom and broken heart for his mom.

I just think it is plain cruel for parents to disown their children for any reason except for violent crimes.

well disowning shouldn't be with all cost, but as of violent crimes, should be broken heart, not disowning, but it will be yours or my children no matter what, bec still have urs, my blood. Remember, Peter become violent against Roman soldier by cutting off his ear, did Jesus disown him? The only thing, is consequences have to pay for the crime.

So, if your son told you that he didn't believe in God... would you beat the crap out of him, threaten to not give him any more presents, etc?

If I'm work as social worker then I will take children away from him, though.
 
I'm curious how this got filmed though, was it staged? Did the kid plan this and set up a hidden cam or what?
 
Oy. tsk tsk.

I'm Catholic but if my kids grow up Atheist, oh well. Not my problem. it's their choice.
