Hi all. I've been lurking on this board for at least 7 years now and finally joined about 2 years ago and finally wanted to introduce meself.
I've lost most of my hearing by the time I was 9 or so. Categorized as "profound hearing loss". Though my speech is "normal", some people think it's an exaggerated loss and ignore the aids.
But that's okay.
My right ear is basically a "lost cause" as I can't really wear an aid there due to chronic otitis media. Left ear is the workhorse and it only has a 70-85% loss.
That said, I work in IT and am a technophile and take a "hands on" approach to things. I tinker and can't leave well enough alone. I've tried several approaches to overcoming my hearing loss with as many gadgets I can find. Only thing that limits me is obtaining DAI cables. (are you listening Phonak?)
Other than that, I do what I can with what I have. and continue moving on.
