This is a perfect example of what is wrong with our criminal justice system. Too much emotion, not enough facts. It is ridiculous that these texts are being entered when they had little or nothing to do with the case. But then at the same time it makes sense that the defense would need to counter the "he is such a sweet innocent boy" spin that the family/media is tainting the jury pool with. None of it has a place in a courtroom.

I can't find a link yet but there was also a TV mention that there were also emails and texts from Zimmerman to the residents a couple weeks prior to the shooting, that might be included in the trial. The emails were warnings to the residents about a suspicious young black man who had been spotted in the neighborhood.

That young Black could had been anyone , it does not means it was TM. TM was visiting some people and that is not a crime. I would not take the words of one person that there was a suspicious young Black man that been spotted in the neighborhood. I would want to see the person for myself and decides that.

Zimmerman didn't say that it was about Martin.

Zimmerman's messages were sent a few weeks prior to his confrontation with Martin. They were a result of recent break-ins in his neighborhood, and he was warning the other residents to be cautious about anyone fitting the description and behavior of suspected culprits.

People in our neighborhood do the same thing. It doesn't mean that they are racist or looking for a fight. Our neighborhood (subdivision) has a homeowners' Facebook account where we can keep each other informed about local stuff, good and bad. We post about lost dogs, school bus problems, vandalism, yard sales, speeders, covenant infractions, help finding repairmen, tree cutting rules, etc. One common posting is warnings about crime. We've gotten warnings about break-ins, stalkers, bikes missing from front yards, smashed mailboxes, and yes, suspicious-looking roaming teens. It's just neighbors looking out for each other.

I read that he was out on an errand, happened to see Martin, and then he followed him. Zimmerman wasn't out looking for trouble when he left his house. Also, there is nothing uncommon or paranoid about carrying a concealed weapon at night (or any time, for that matter).

That doesn't mean that everything Zimmerman did was right.

Note the bold sentence--that is exactly what Zimmerman was doing--he wanted to see the person for himself.

In that case, you would both be making a mistake. He and you should report any suspicious person to the police and let them check it out.
