Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers....hoping for better and calmer days--the strength of being 'together' during these difficult times can be of great encouragement too. Please do hang in there. :)

My family have no known history of heart diseases.

Thread will remain 'sticky' for the time being--

I keep your family in my thoughts.

None in my and my hubby's side have heart problems. My hubby got it at 2 years ago - heart rthrums. Doctor advised him to drink a glass of red wine moderately and eat dark plain chocolate... No problem since this happened. *knock on the wood*

Sorry about your news Sara.

At World War II, every men in Britain, went for a medical test to join the war to fight for their homeland, My Grandfather went and he failed because of his bad heart monitoring, he was staying behind in England along with disabled men.

Few years later, he died of 51 as a result.

I was told there is good chance bad heart is gene in the family. I hope mine is ok?

Oh yeah, I was so freaking out. I had to pushy him to take a helicopter from my hometown to Boston due to emergency. Glad, I was there with him all the way. He finally came home last Monday. He will be following up to see a cardiologist in October. Prayer that there is not necessary surgery for him. Myocardial Bridge is very rare condition !

My two sons and I are good nurse to him. ;)

It´s heart rhythum (heartbeat irregularly and faster). They gave him medicals to brake his heart and dilute his blood. He has good choestrol level in his blood that´s why he do not need to change his food habits. The doctor recommended him to drink a glass of red wine moderately and also eat dark chocolate as well.

That is very interesting.

I hope that your grandmother will be in a good health soon as possible. Most older patients survive with their pacemaker after the surgery. My grandmother had a pacemaker for about 10 years.

Does your father / uncle takes coumadin pill everyday? This medicine makes their blood thinner. You mean that your father has a plastic aorta valve? If yes, he takes coumadin daily, and it requires him to take a blood test every month or two months for rest of his life.

Coumadin is very risk of bleeds if cut profoundly. It is difficult to control coumadin in the right balance like not too much coumadin or too little especially weather condition like hot day or cold days that makes the blood level changes once a while.

FDA does not allow to sell Exanta in the U.S. from Europe. This medicine is alternative to coumadin that has no side effect and a blood test every 6 months to one year which is not too bad. But, I am not sure if the Europe still uses this Exanta for the research on patients. I heard it a few years ago, and was told that the Exanta is a little expensive than coumadin. For example, 10 dollars for one coumadin pill (probably without insurance?). I guess that Exanta cost around 15 dollars per pill.
It's because drug stores want extra profit.

I hope that everything is good with you.

My mom and my aunt had heart disease since they were kids. My mother died from Hypertensive Heart Disease at age 51. My aunt had pacemaker for couple of years. One night, her heart stopped and she died at age 63. My father had heart attack in his late 50's and had double bypass. His valves were cover 95 percent, they had to cut it to make it open to let the blood flow thru.

I keep going to my dr every 6 months to make sure my heart is fine, no disease or so!! I watch my blood pressure since I am alittle overweight but I eat right and exercise regularly. I am taking my bp medication. It does help.
