The company that made the drinks must be living under a rock! People are trying not to use the word 'retard' because is offensive .
 
Boy oh boy, I hope that it was a mistake (french vs. Englisg words) but really, shouldn't someone have seen it before it was sent out?
 
insenstive but canada is is french/english would thought this family understood what retard meant in french and not intended to insult should read why it happened and learn french..It would not bother me once i understood reasoning behind it all.
many words married together do this.eg piscine/swimming pool(pronounce piss in)may have been better if said derrierere,

True. The store only sells those stuffs. They don't manufacture those cups. They would not know what was under cap.

I think it was more of a misunderstanding. I don't think they purposely meant to offend anyone. It was a foolish mistake. The company apologized to the family and community.

Yeah, that's why the contest was cancelled to avoid more mistakes.

The problem was that the English and French word lists were approved separately and no one considered what they might say when put together.
