I have Sony Vaio laptop. for the past 40 mins it keeps saying configuring updates stage 3 of 3 then staying like that for 10 mins or so then turning off and repeating the whole process!! Any idea how to actually stop this so I can actually use the laptop? Right now I have to use the desktop computer but it is not mine.

Thanks in advance

The laptop is only 2-3 years old. It is under warrenty so it's going bk to the shop. Plus we pay insurance so it wil be fixed for free

Let it finish it's update. It's probably service pack which is a bit large. Be patient and let it finish.

I assume it finished as the laptop turned off, but now the laptop wont come on

make sure it is in fact turned off and not in suspend mode. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds then try to power it up again. Make sure you are on AC power and not the battery. Best of luck!!

Disconnect the AC power and take battery off for few minutes then re-connect the AC power without battery.
That may or may not work. Some laptops need the battery in place to complete circuit. It could be a defective battery but that is an expensive game of process of elimination. I would contact Sony.

Nothing to do with circuit. Laptop need full reset when battery and AC are disconnection. Sometime it can work. Hold the power button for 10 seconds may not work.

Please do what highlander suggest you to do --- this reset will help, if it is being stuck. We all are trying to help you to fix this computer without shelling any pounds out of your wallet.

I tried everythin

I have my Sony Vaio laptop computer. Hold on power button in several second and turn off. or disconnect the AC power and take battery off for few minutes then re-connect the AC power without battery.
