The car-sim console war between PS2 and xbox has been upped!
With the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 4 this fall-we thought it was the Gran Turismo to end all Gran Turismo's but seems like I was wrong...
Microsoft Game Studios has answered the Gran Turismo type challenge:
Forza Motorsport!
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/forza/default.htm
Even better: Forza Motorsport will have 60 manufacturers including FERRARI! Gran Turismo never had a Ferrari in all its games. Then the ultimate kicker that will truly doom Gran Turismo:
The abiility to customize the car including changes to the body and engine looks so much better than Need For Speed Underground and Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec. With many Gran Turismo fans, myself included clamoring for Yamauchi to include DAMAGE to the cars, both visually and mechanically, Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital has used the "license restrictions" excuse every time there was no Damage implemented in each Gran Turismo game. Forza Motorsport will have damage for all cars, even the Ferrari's are not immune to it! So, Yamauchi, you're about to get dusted!
But the best thing for me about Forza Motorsport is: The Nurburgring Nordschleife track in Germany that I have loved in Project Gotham Racing 2, along with Mazda Laguna-Seca Raceway is making their appearance in FM. All I just hope is MGS can sneak in the Mount Panorama Bathurst track from Australia in Forza (after all Bathurst is my fave Pro Race Driver and TOCA RD2 track)
Enough blathering....compare the Gran Turismo 4 and Forza Motorsports snaps:
