at the end of 2005 and mid 2006, from the next gen consoles (2001-2006) of Xbox, PS2, and GC was the main console war now with Xbox360, PS3 and "Revloution" (late 2005-2006)comes the console Revloutions.

Is Mircosoft taking a serious risk in taking the Xbox360 in the lead?

In the november issue of the Official Playstation magazine, Sony said that Mircosoft is taking a big risk by selling two different versions of the Xbox360 hardware. Is the market ready for it? Sony doesn't seem to think so, but it has the luxury of sitting back and seeing if microsoft's strategy works. if it does, Sony still might be hesitant to follow suit, but it will undoubtedly make the company think twice about releasing a more affordable PS3 at launch.

As the revloution, starting off with a remote-like controller and joystick attachment for gameplay and stuff...I believe it would be perfect for FPS titles, but wouldn't be surprised that it lacked much less third party support than ever. While most third party companies already done more than 20 titles (and counting) for the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 before launch.

Nintendo has afew third party companies like Ubisoft and Theo and others.

here's the article to the consoles revloution case.

even the part about the HDD-equipped PSP.

I'm not so sure about those games going online the Revloution console... :ugh: the GameCube didn't do so well at all with online gaming and just only had Phantasy Star online as a port the Dreamcast...and that's it!

So personally, I dont believe everything Nintendo says, as well as Sony but for a weird reason Microsoft seems to be more honest and more serious with the hardware and its launch of titles and other things so they dont seem to be much of a lie since it is a computer company and they seem to know exactly what they are doing indeed.

Even Xbox live was much more popular than the Sony online system was so perhas Sony would improve their online system with the PS3 later on but I just wouldn't be surprised if the Revloution's online system still sucked balls...even if they say that it would download nintendo classics but I never heard a single word from Nintendo themselves.

and it doesnt look like it would play the gamecube titles either so I don't really know... I still won't buy it unless I see it first but I doubt I need that Revloution as an videogame collection anyway.

like I said before, Xbox360 seems more than enough to me.

So what's your take?

I agree with Microsoft taking this kind of risk. Sega made that mistake too many times... and look what happened. Nintendo came out first. Sega came out next with better graphics. Super Nintendo came out. Sega Genesis came out afterwards with good games. Suddenly, Sega rushed with Sega CD... and then Sega 32X. Those were short-lived. Sega released Saturn first. Sony released their Playstation. Nintendo released their N64 next. This killed the Sega Saturn. Sega then released the Dreamcast first. Playstation 2 was next. Xbox was next. Gamecube was next. This killed Dreamcast.

Yeah I agree with Vampy, Microsoft is jumping the gun too soon, and I don't believe Microsoft know what they are doing since they are a "computer" company. Microsoft knows nothing about video games because, as I said in one of the other threads, Bill Gates said he will not allow Microsoft to venture into the video gaming industry because it is a big waste of time. Today, he sees it as another money-making scheme and want to push XBox to the extreme. If XBox 360 fails, its Microsoft's fault for pushing everything too soon. Two different versions of the Xbox 360? Come on, that's lame and stupid. I liked Nintendo GameCube's strategy, buy the console, you want to go online using a broadband connection, buy the broadband adapter and some other add-ons. That's a good idea, but to decide which version to buy, that's another lame move by Microsoft to get people to lose more money going for the expensive version. Of course everyone want the latter version because it features more along with a 20 GB hard drive...

I'm not one of the early adapters because I have had my share of burns in the past. Anyone remember Atari Jaguar? I was burned by that friggin' stupid machine so I'm not going to be an early adapter here for the XBox, PS3 and Revolution. I'm going to wait till they reach 6 months later in the market and see how well they fare. I thought the original XBox would be awesome, but seeing as the console is bulky as well as the controller, I decided to wait along with what Microsoft had lined up for games to be released for the XBox. Nothing grasped my interest except for Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive 3. I asked myself this, "Do I want to buy a machine and have it sit in the dark, gather dust upon itself and wait for a better successor to come around to kick it into retirement because there's only two games I want to play on the XBox? I think not." I didn't rush to buy the GameCube when it came out because I saw the line-up and it didn't look pretty at first, then later on, more games started to come out and they looked interested. I bought the GameCube when the price dropped and some games too, liked it a lot and am still satisfied with my GameCube today. The PS2 is still running strong in my opinion as I have one with over 50 games in my game library but it's not the paramount machine in gaming history. I believe Nintendo and Super Nintendo and MAYBE the Genesis were the best ever made in history because all three combined, I had over 300 or 400 games, but that's just my opinion.

Back to the point, another reason why I waited because I wanted to test all three consoles on a kiosk and when Xbox finally hit the stores on a kiosk, two out of three kiosks were out of order due to a memory failure or something like that and later on I read that about half of XBox owners complained that their Xbox didn't work when it came out of the box. Now, Microsoft is a "computer" company and they know what they are doing? I think not. Heck, Windows XP is still defective, I even run into some problems with WinXP and if Microsoft know what they are doing, we won't be getting any hotfixes or service packs for Windows platforms... I'm not going to say that Sony know what they are doing since they are an electronic company, because the first few hundred, maybe thousand of PS2 released, experienced technical difficulties and maybe a few months, or a year later, the PS2 would be kaput. I'm on my 2nd PS2 box but why did I buy another PS2 if the first one FUBAR'd on me? I have like 50 games that I want to play so I want to continue playing them on the PS2 so I bought a 2nd one. It is not how well the console can strut its power, it's the games that makes the console look beautiful and useful.

If the XBox FUBAR'd on me, and I only have 2 games and it's now like what, 129 dollars? I forgot how much it costs now, but if it's at that price and I only have 2 games? Heck, I'll sell the two games and just get some more games for the PS2 or the GameCube.

It's like being on Fear Factor, and when you get chosen to go first, everyone can watch you and develop a better strategy to compete against you. In my opinion, Microsoft is the lame duck of the gaming industry and Sony and Nintendo knew that so they are sitting back and watching how well Microsoft will perform and learn from Microsoft's mistakes so they will prevent that from happening to their next generation consoles. For those who already pre-ordered their Xbox 360, good luck and hopefully it will function well on the first day and will continue to develop more games to match their taste.

Who know, maybe I will buy a Xbox 360, but that will not mean I'm going to eat my words, it means I finally found about 10 to 20 games that I will play and hopefully some of these games will have high replay value so I can play again and again.
