Do you consider that a waste of money when a parent purchase a XBox 360 when a child already has a XBox ? :dunno:

Cheri, I asked Chris what the difference was between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox, he explained to me that there was a difference. It was the videocard. In Xbox 360, it has a powerful videocard to create the 3-D games look incredibly graphic and realistic. Xbox 360 also can play on HDTV whereas the Xbox can but within limited viewing. Xbox 360 has the improved sound card and increased CPU speed. Games from the original Xbox can be played on the newer version. However, the downside of all of this recently... there are several bugs within Xbox 360 when you play several games and the console or the games will freeze. Chris says the newer version is really good but for our opinion, we wouldn't rush out to the store and get the newer version when we have the Xbox console. Remember we came a long way from Atari? I just commented to Chris that who knows a few years down the road, they'll come out with video games that everyone straps on and plays while running around.

What bugs? 360 has smaller size and more comfortable controlller. The older Xbox just looks like a big honkin' VCR! The new one just looks more like the original bulky PlayStation 2.

You can't play classic XBOX games unless you have the hard drive attachment and a XBOX Live Membership in order to download the emulator software that can play these games without any problems.

As that remark goes about people strapping on stuff and physically getting involved in a video game by actually acting out actions. Nintendo's actually making the closest thing to that. They're making a console that uses a remote to act out commands. Look up Nintendo Revolution.

Link about the bugs within the Xbox 360 consoles that Microsoft is now responding to the customer reports.

Ok, Thanks, Patty.

I'm going to read that link then get back to you.

Yikes. Good thing I didn't buy one right away. I'm actually holding out for the PlayStation 3 since it can play two generations of old games under the PlayStation brand as well it would continue to be compatible with DVD Playback as well the new Blu-Ray movie format.

It's quite common for the first round of consoles to be infested with glitches, bugs and several other types of problems.

This is why I always avoid buying them when they launch, and it's always better to wait and see how successful it becomes in the next 6 months and how many third-party supporters are on board with them.

Not only to mention the price drops. :)

Not really, like the others here. It's often worth the money to make an upgrade like this.

Though you can always wait it out for the prices to drop. Microsoft is also bound to come out with some special bundles in the future.

Exactly!! Banjo just said it all because Microsoft is bound to come out with something. Chris commented earlier that it is worth the money to have an upgrade however it is best to "wait" for the excitement to die down.

Yeah Next year M$ will drop the price to $200 US.

Microsoft reports Xbox 360 glitches

Thursday, November 24, 2005; Posted: 9:27 a.m. EST (14:27 GMT)

REDMOND, Washington (AP) -- Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday it had received isolated reports of technical problems with its popular new Xbox 360 videogame system.

Some owners complained that their systems were crashing during game play, sometimes with error messages popping up.

On www.xbox-scene.com, a site dedicated to Xbox gaming, a member called "jsgongwon" reported that he could not finish the first lap of "Project Gotham Racing 3."

"It's a few reports of consoles here and there not working properly," said Molly O'Donnell, a spokeswoman for Microsoft's Xbox division.

"It's what you would expect with a consumer electronics instrument of this complexity .... par for the course."

Gaming fanatics lined up for hours Monday to be among the first to purchase the next-generation system, which was in short supply despite its starting price tag of $299.99. Microsoft hopes to sell 2.5 million to 3 million of the new systems in the first 90 days.

O'Donnell urged anyone with Xbox problems to call 1-800-4myXbox or go to www.xbox.com. If the problems can't be resolved immediately, Microsoft said it will pay to ship the console overnight to a repair center, overnight it back once it's fixed, or ship a replacement.

ORIGINAL XBOX CONSOLE IS GREAT CONSOLE!!

Well, many new electronics that first come out with a new designs always have bad batches of them, just like the PS2 at launch that had disc reading errors and such. I'm not surprised that the xbox 360 had issues at launch, that's typical for bad batches of them. Wait til after they resolve most of the bugs and issues in next revision or something. Customer feedback is the only way company can find out more issues and make it better in next revision.

Wha... waste $ some of people who were bought it.. and one day gonna piss'n off and want refund full amount!

Best wait until 6 mos later and to see if any improve the xbox 360

*chuckles*~ :D

I bought mine at launch day and experienced no problems at all. :dunno:

Thanks all for your responds. The reason I asked because my son Markus add it on his Christmas wishing list. I was thinking, why would he wants another X BOX the newest one when he already has one that is almost alike. Games always drive me crazy when they make playstation 1 then a new game comes out, there's playstation 2. and now they have a newest XBOX 360. grrr... I'll wait awhile to see if it's worth to buy. (in a few months that is) LOL! Thanks again all! ;)

I was thinking about getting the xbox360 on launch but something made me pause to think.....there gonna be problems with the 1st batch of consoles during the launch so better to wait until there are improvements made to the xbox360 a few months later. I did that with the PS2 getting it 6 months after its launch and I didnt have any plms with it.

same thing goes for my original xbox. I didnt get one until June 2003 and it had the upgraded dvd player in it. and its still going good like energizer bunny.

Just tell your son he has to wait and perhas he should save some money for the system so you and your son can pay half for the system as a fair deal and all.

with gaming, it's always about business and money. with more systems they make, the more money they would make also.

...as long as it has strong support and popularity, the company would stay alive but with Sega, it didnt have much support and much third party companies for the dreamcast and even had trouble with money also.

business that involves gaming is actually harder than you think. lol

Just heard some reports from other gamers saying that the second shipment for the Xbox360 would be around early december.

better get on your sneakers and run like hell to any electronic store and preorder it.
