Would you do that?

I hope my thread is not dumb but curious.

Will you post any pictures of your friends or members to internet, newspapers etc without get the permission from them? Would you do that?

Would you say: I can do what I want with my pictures because it´s my own camera or my own copyright legally. I dont have to ask people for the permission?

If not, why?

If yes, why?

I know it sound scary when people say like this. “I can do what I want with pictures because it´s my camera/own copyright. It´s legal”. How could I trust people to take picture of me in then send to internet without get the permission from me.

Good question. He who takes pictures of people should definitely ask for their permission to post the pictures on the internet. (But it is okay to post pictures of your relatives in your personal website as a family album, I think.)

Good thread there Liebling

If a person has post something like a photo, a link from a private web site, or personal information about the other person, that person can file a lawsuit against you for posting something without their permission....

I think it would be wise to ask for their permission first before posting something that is not about you or not a picture of yourself otherwise it show that you have no respect for their privatey or their personal ID....

I always ask my friends or family for their persmission to post their photos or their web sites first, otherwise you wouldn't like it if someone did this to you, I know I wouldn't...

Good question, even if I had big fight with somebody, I won't even dare to post pix of him or make anything in public... For a good reason... I could be liable for the damage, and this person could sue me if he/she find right attorney. So, the final answer is... its very UNWISE to do that without permission, even if its friendly or not.
Of course I had run in somebody here at AD. I didn't point out at this person. Even I still REFUSED to do this. Now I see this person's side and wish I can solve problem with this person, but this person ignores me... Oh well.

I disagree about making an exception basis on families... Its better NONE, the less the better.

No I wouldn't even tho my ex husband is an abustive, and I wouldn't even post his picture up on the interent to warn the girls out there without asking for his permission first...It doesn't really matter if I own that picture or if I had taking that picture...

I wouldn't want someone to post my picture up and say " This is the bi*** I married " you know what I mean? LOL

I think Toonces mean is his own family, not other families like parents, siblings, aunt, cousin etc. Example: I post the picture of my sons/pets/my hubby to internet is my own family.

Correct, Toonces?

Right Liebling, I post a photo of my children and RR <<< that's my family! ;)

If I took a photo shot of someone that I've meet, I would of course have their permission to post it on a website, because that's where the respect leads to. If you have respect for a person then It would be wise to ask for permission, That's what I would do. :thumb: However, if a photo is taken without my knowledge, and someone posted it on a website, and did not ask for my permission, That is wrong and shows that the person has no respect for my privacy. I am very careful not to submit my friends or people that I've meet already to embarrassed them if they have a bad hair day. :giggle: When people have send me pictures of themselves through emailing they would asked me not to share it with anyone, I respect their wishes and will not do so. ;)

Yes, I agree that I would not say: "I don´t have to ask you for permission because it´s my OWN camera. It´s my OWN copyright, I can do what I want with those pictures. You can´t sue me". I find it´s arrogance if I say like this to you.

But... But... it´s different if your partner is police´s top of wanted or suspect for broke the law like murder, robbery, children kidnap, rapist, etc... then you has the right to put the picture into internet to ask the people for the support.

Yeah I understand about that but for myself I would rather the police or the American most wanted to post a picture of a wanted suspect instead of me doing it otherwise I wouldn't want a lawsuit coming after me.....

I'm broke anyhow LOL

I wouldn't either, If i took the pictures from my camera, I would love treasure it forever as memories that I've been places, meet people that I've known from on line, I wouldn't say to them, I am going to use it in a website It's my pictures I took them with my own camera that sounds rude and has no respect for anyone but themselves. You bet I would sue them if they did that. And when that happens I hope they would have someone on the side to do a CPR , because a frog would be stuck between their throat. :giggle:

Exactly, that´s what I thought the same.

They would sue me for defamation/hurt their privacy or image if I post the picture of them to internet or newspapers without get the permission from them.

It would hurt your friendship/trust if you post the picture of your friends to internet or newspaper.

I would not do that to my friends´s behind their back. This is betrayal if I do that to my own friends. No Way.

If I want to take the picture of my friends or members then is belong privacy, not post privacy to internet. If I want to post the pictures to internet, then ask my friends for the permission first because friendship and trust are most value to me.

Example about neighbor or people in the public.

Wow, thank you for share your opinions/feedback. I had the same feeling as you all.

Now I have other question about neigbor or people in the public.

Would you take a picture of neighbor or people in the public then send the picture to internet or newspapers without get the permission from them? Example about nude neighbor at their backyard or people in the public.

Would you say "it´s my own camera/copyright to take picture of nude people in the public or their privacy backyard because it´s their fault for show their nude in the public?"

To me, I would not do that but respect my neighbor or people´s privacy, no matter what they did in the public.

To me, it´s disrespect what you do is use the picture to post to internet or in the public because you said it´s your own copyright.

The neighbor or people has the right to sue you for hurt their privacy and image. Right?

I remember my friend of Munich who tried to take the picture of nudist in English Garden at years ago. The people threat him to call the police and demand him to remove the film in his camera. He know what he doing is wrong to peer their privacy so he has no choice and has to remove the film and give it to them. I was like wow when he told me the story.

Come and share your opinions with us....

No, I wouldn't do that to them without their permission, No matter what if they are nude, giving a bird, or having a bad hair day, I wouldn't do it. But, if they broke the law and did something against the law like murder and I was the witness and took pictures of the action that took place, Yes I will do the right thing and show those pictures to the police.

Would you say "it´s my own camera/copyright to take picture of nude people in the public or their privacy backyard because it´s their fault for show their nude in the public

LOL! Same thing as I stated above for the same reason. :)
