I brought this subject at my thread "Briton spoil children".
Liebling:)))'s post at other thread
You remind me of old married couple, I met at BBQ party last summer. They talked about their son & his family live in America & told me that they don't have meal times for a day but a big breakfast in morning and then big dinner in evening... I'm going to create a thread later to find out what daily time American, Austrialian, and any countries in the world to have their daily meal time. Of course I will share mine...

Here is mine:

German Tradition:

Breakfast: between 8 am and 8.30 am (cereals, fruits, toasts, rolls, cheese, butter, jam, egg for sundays).

Hot dinner: between 11.30 am and 12.30 noon with salads or warm vegetables.

Afternoon coffee:3 pm with homemade cakes/cookies

Cold evening snack: between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm (kind of rolls, breads with sliced sausages, cheeses, noodle salads, salads etc) - sometimes I baked homemade pizza for saturdays - sometimes my children loves to eat cereals.

British Tradition:

Breakfast: between 8 am and 9.00 pm
snack: between 12.30 and 14.00 pm (sandwiches)
Hot Dinner: between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm

Come and share your daily meal time here with us... :thumb: It's interesting to learn how different cultures we have...

I really didn't set the time. All we do to eat -

Breakfast - scrambled eggs, cereal or toasts

Lunch - (we both works, and my son in school, they served him something), I take sandwich and apple to work, and my husband usually skips.

Dinner - we come home and look in the freezer to see what we got and then cook dinner..

We don't have snacks, but we can eat anytime if you are really hungry.
We are not living in British like having tea. I wonder what is "Tea Time". Does it mean, you invite someone over to drink tea??

I mean TIME... What's your usually time? I doesn't mean which dinner you cook everyday. I mean is TIME. Yes, I know I add something on breakfast time and cold snack which mean is usually like this everyday. Hot dinner is a different...

Tea time - unlimited in England... but for rich people who drink cup of tea is 4pm. German use tea time is 4 pm and coffee time is 3 pm.

Well, coffee or tea time is not just for visitor but family together.

Between break times - something small like fruits or drink herbal tea.. whatever... at 10pm

Do you mean late evenings? sometimes my hubby & children eat bar of chocolate or ice cream when there're good movies in weekends... I can't eat like this due problem of thyroid/heart burnt but apple or glass of milk.

Oh Times.. :o

7:00am - Normally, I skip breakfast, I have apple or banana to go. My son gets cereal or Poptarts for breakfast.

12:00-1:00pm - Normally I skip lunch, I go to gym to work out and come back to work with water and banana or celery or carrots I have left in the small refrigerator in my office.

5:30-6:30pm, we find something to eat, chickens, meats, and others are in the deep freezer in the basement and cans of vegetable from panstry.

We can eat anything in between times...

No foods or drinks after 7:00pm... Not good for my son. If he drinks or eat, he'll make accidents while he sleep. I normally "hit the hay" around 9:30pm.

Australia

Morning break: about 11: fruits, snacks

Liebling-- some family adjust their times in according to their children's school hours. When I was in fourth grade, I had to get up at 5am to get on a bus at 5:50am so that means I ate breakfast earlier than many kids who get up at 7am... (oh how envious I was of them sleeping longer than me!). The schools, for most kids, start at 7:30... But there are some schools that starts at 8am... I remembered the old days when the school started at 9am!

Now I am in college and I don't have "meals" with family because everybody in this family got their own schedule.

*MY* Schedule which is dependable on how many and when my classes are...
if I don't have 8o'clock classes:
8:30am -- a bowl of breakfast (cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, whatever) ... or just a protein drink if there is nothing to eat.
if I got a class-- 7:00am I just swallow a bowl of cereal and grab a fruit on go and leave the house by 7:05am.... :thumb:

in between breakfast and lunch; if I am not at my uni, I snack on cheese and crackers, fruits or vegetables. I have been craved cheese and strawberries lately. :-X

12:p to 1:30p -- lunch of any kind-- one plate, usually. A sandwich, a warm soup (if it is a cold day), a meal of roasted potatoes or whatnot. I usually cook something when I arrive home from classes. Compared to my past, this lunch is bigger and more healthy.

In the evening, if I am hungry during classtime, I try to grab an energy bar (tiger milk!) or yogurt bar to nibble on between 4pm to 7pm.

5 to 7pm-- mealtime! I do agree with Liebling about having my evening meal being slightly bigger than previous meals. That's pretty much "American" style. I don't like it when my friends want to eat out at 7p or 8p. It is really late for me! On the weekends, I wouldn't mind but still. Worser, one friend did ask me to join for a dinner at 10pm!!!! 10PM?! I told him that I would join only to eat dessert or something.

In Finland, lunch and dinners are usually around 12 and 6pm on dot. Breakfast is whenver you wake up. :) Maybe it is just my family. But also like five times throughout the day between breakfast and dinner, everybody get their coffee/teas and sweeties/pastries. I think after every meal, you get your coffee and pastries. then last one will be right before the bedtime. TOO MUCH food for me. It is even worser if you are at a birthday party... My aunt's party-- from 4pm to like 11pm, there were three meals served... and dessert at the end. Oh god. My family looked at me as if I was a freak when I turned down the third meal because I was overstuffed.

you're average post-high school, irresponisble male's meal schedule

My actual weak begins on Mon.

Monday and Wednesday
Wake up at 9:30
Breakfast: only if I have time right when I wake up
Lunch: usually between 2 and 3 PM, after I get out of class
Dinner: between 8 and 9 PM

Tuesday and Thursday
Wakeup whenver
Breakfast: whenever I wake up
Lunch: whenever I wake up after a nap
Dinner: 7:30 to 8 PM

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Wake up: 8 AM
Breakfast: I don't eat breakfast on workdays
Lunch: usually around 2 PM
Dinner: either after 5:30 or 8 PM

My schedule as a high school student,

Weekend:
Breakfast: Whenever I wake up
Lunch: a couple of hours when i wake up
Supper: when my dad makes supper usually between 4:30-7pm

Weekday:
School starts 8:45am,
Wake up, don't eat breakfast
Lunch: 11:30pm dont eat much, just meat from sandwich or something
Supper: 4:45 the cafe opens for residence students, and eat whatever they serve lol.

that's it, pretty simple.

I have to leave the house by 7 a.m. for my work commute, so I eat breakfast by 6:30 a.m., Monday - Saturday. On Sundays I don't get up until 7 a.m., so we have breakfast about 7:45 a.m.

Three days a week I get a lunch break at work from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. I drink a fruit smoothie in my car. The other three days at work I don't get a lunch break. I drink a fruit smoothie as I walk from one class to the next.

Supper is usually about 5:30 p.m. on workdays; none on Sundays (because we don't get home until about 9 p.m., but we have a large late lunch on Sundays). We have a snack after church on Wednesday and Sunday evenings.

Interesting,

Oh Yes, I remember from saw the "asian breakfast" in Sinpagore. We have American breakfast buffet and also Asian "breakfast" buffet, too in Hotel where we stay. We were like  when we saw the kind of foods they eat for their "breakfast" like "snack time". My children tried some of Asian food and feel strange that it's really breakfast...

We stay in breakfast room until 9.30 am and saw "chinese" look people come to have their "Asian" foods and enjoy them.... not tried American breakfast.

German Tradition what I mentioned in my first post is weekends or holidays.

I work everyday from 7.30 am to 4.00 pm.

I make everyday like this.

I fixed the breakfast for my hubby & children while my hubby with children upstair... I ate cereal or rye roll with homemade jams and then leave home for work at 7.05 am.

Arrive at work to prepare the coffee for us.

Unlimited breaks - apple, herbal teas, etc.

Hot Dinner: I took overleft of yesterday where my hubby cooked for children to warm up at mirocwelle or sometimes go to canteen.

Afternoon coffee... sometimes without cakes/cookies - sometimes I brought my homemade cake to treat my co-workers... as they as well... or buy at canteen...

Come home from work by 4.20 pm to have a chat with my hubby before he leave for go to evening work by 4.45pm.

I fix evening snack for me & my children between 5pm and 6.30pm... sometimes later because of football training etc.
