I've tried to teach my cat ASL. There are some words that cats can sign with my help.

Words include:

On
Off
Over
Below
Above
Late
Not yet
Open
Close
Window
Pray
God
Don't
Calm down
Open minded

There are many more that I've forgotten, but I think cats can sign those words with their front paws. Yes, it does take time for a cat to get used to ASL.

It's possible if you make cat sign.

LOL. Someone has WAY too much time on their hands. :P

Which is fine. Because it's entertaining.

I dare someone to make their cat sign all this stuff on video and post it. >.>

My friend's Deaf cat understands about 20 different ASL signs.

My Deaf cat understands several ASL signs and some body gestures.

Dang I wish my cat can understand me but they do Meow to me. OF course i cant hear but they know that i readlip. Hahaha They do look at me and go meow

My daughter's dog wouldn't do anything, learn any spoken commands for about two years. Then she started using ASL. He learned sit on the first day. Now he knows lie down and stop that.
I think he was just stubborn.

I get nervous about living with my girlfriend and her cat because her cat won't let me sit down with her and learn ASL. I hope that I would be able to communicate with my girlfriend's cat in some way even if she won't learn ASL.
