Hi everyone! My name is Elizabeth Martin and I'm from London, UK. I just joined this site about 5 minutes ago and I really want to talk to other Deaf people, because I go to public school and I don't know any other Deaf people and life can pretty much suck.

Hello, I was the only deaf student most of the time in middle and high school. Welcome and hope you have a good time here. :wave:
 
The Only One

One time I was invited to an all deaf womens church retreat.
I was the only hearing woman there.
I was exhausted and confused alot of the time and
Sometimes I would just go off by myself
and take a deep breath a remain alone so
that I could get my energy back.

I can't even begin to imagine how isoloated
and lonely you must be. I was in a place where
people wanted me there and were patient and
kind and though I wasn't lonely I was exhausted.

Maybe having people here who know what you've
been through, like Shel, will help you get through
the tough times. Hang in there!
