Actually, I think research companies such as CSIRO knew about the deadly risk of abestos. So why not the Dept of Defense as they do know about risks, but do not divulge information.
Lots of people get this cancer from breathing in the abestos or even playing in abestos, hugging an abesto clad parent, and such. And it doesn't affect only adults, but children, too.
We've a business called James Hardie who recently agreed to a precedent deal where they have to pay billions in compensation to mesothelioma victims from now to 40 years down the road. Even some of unborn children have mesothelioma, but they will not know about it until they're 30 or 40 when it starts to show up.
It's a terrible, terrible disease.
