Wolf and Dog Pup study info

yes, I do too.

Yeah, labradoodles were bred as service dogs (for the blind) in Australia. Turns out, they don't make good service dogs for the blind. They have a high failure rate. They wash out early. My friend had one as a Guide Dog and hers had to be retired early, and needed retraining during her time with the dog as well. The person who first bred them is crushed to see what has become of them. My friend now has a poodle as her Guide Dog, and her Guide Dog group no longer uses labradoodles at all. They don't help any with allergies (no dog is hypo-allergenic, that's impossible) and they just don't have the temperament needed. I say no dog is hypo-allergenic because people take that to mean that they don't trigger allergies at all and you can't say that of a living creature.

have you seen a Bagle Hound it is a cross between the Basset Hound and the Beagle. I saw one and they are really cute. I asked what kind of dog it was and the woman said 'bagle' ' and I thought that was the dog name .

Yeah, my friends had one growing up. They called it a mutt ;-) It was really unattractive, it had the worst parts of both breeds on one body.

hey, Eater, thanks for putting up more info. about the Labradoodles.
I really also agree with you about the "hypoallergenic" crap...there is no such thing, it's just a marketing ploy. Some dogs - like the Poodle - have different coat and the hair is easier for some people to adjust to rather then other types of coat. But that doesn't make them "hypoallergenic"

sad that people are purposely breeding mixes like the beagle and Basset; all those "Poo"'s - for high amounts of money and ill-informed, silly reasons and sales pitches. One can go to the shelter any day and find similar if not the same.
