Just check out this link about between Vista and Windows 7 benchmark.
Benchmarking Windows 7: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger? : New Means Better, Right? - Review Tom's Hardware

I will not upgrade to Windows 7 until next year or so, I just want new graphic card and save up for school materials.

I use Windows XP for MacBook Pro due limited space and took 1 GB since Vista/7 took 15 GB.

Thank you for infomation on it. I keep XP Pro on Dell desktop computer. I will bring my other laptop computer which includes Vista Home Premuim to Best Buy for upgrade Windows 7 Ultmate soon. Charge $89 for it. cheaper than $219. I should get Window 7 license when upgrading?

Yes I noticed it when i was experiment with win7 beta on my asus netbook and gave me a idea what it look like..

However I really happy with vista 64bit. no need upgrade right now..

Dude, why you need new graphic card? i just curious..

I have issue with Vista 64 bit due network disconnect after wake up from sleep, same with WiFi so I tried to find solution but no luck so just sticking with 32 bit, Do you have any idea to fix it?

I need new graphic card because GTA IV and some games cannot max out with totally beautiful texture, GTA IV on GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB is similar texture as console version but only 20% improvement, with GeForce 285 GTX 1 GB so it will be around over 60% improvement over console version.

If you have more than 1 GB VRAM with strong graphic card, such as GeForce 260, 280, 360, 380 GTX or Radeon 4870, 5770, 5850, 5870 so texture in GTA IV like road will be far more detail and denser, there's picture that give a good example, it about wall with poster.
GTA 4 (PC): Graphics settings compared plus system requirements - GTA 4, PC, graphics, comparison, Settings, Details, System requirements - PC Games Hardware

I set at medium but cannot on high due lacks of VRAM.

1) Yeah You aren't alone.. I had exactly issues like yours.. I went and brought it over bestbuy, because I purchased from BB. I talk geek guys and example them about my laptop. they saw it and they said, can't fix that.. I was like "WHAT"!? i asked them, you dont know how to fix that issuse? they said yes they cant do that, because they don't have any specify disk to fix vista os for network. they suggest to reformatted the harddrive or exchange another notebook... again, I was little anger: I was like surprise and said what, what? are you kidding? i made good point and little offense them. they started to be frustrate and got me on their nerves. Because I wanted them fix vista OS instead of exchange another notebook. they refused to fix it. no excuse for geek quads.. I fed up and said go ahead to exchange it.

2) Yeah I've read some argue with others in their posts about GTA's issues for video card from another forums for mainly pc and pc gaming.. however follow the minimum system require:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1.5 GB Vista / 1 GB XP
Hard Drive 16 GB Free Space
Video Card: 256 MB Nvidia 7900 / 256 MB ATI X1900

see that?, Mmm I understand that what you fussy about video card for games's graphics.. whats your currently video card specs in desktop pc now? I just curious..

3) Yeah I aware of those running DDR3.. its is very expensive range $ from 200 to 4k. I honestly don't worry about video card, but make sure video card is high quality and highly memory rams (512BM -1GB) for games's requirements..

4) Yeah, You trying to hook up your rig on big screen hdtv or monitor?

benchmarking is not really an issue in here - at least for me. seriously - do you really want the fastest of everything?

I only care about stability and usability. If it can do the job well, that's good enough for me. I prefer Windows 7 in terms of usability over Vista

No fixes for network issue for Vista 64 bit? Wow, it sounds like already fixed in Windows 7 64 bit.

I use GeForce 9800 GTX, got in year ago.

Yup, GeForce will replace GDDR3 into GDDR5 to reduce of manufacturing cost at start 300 series since ATI already did in few years ago, that why cost of GeForce video card cost more than ATI.

I use monitor due high resolution, 1650 x 1050 and be nice if I use 1080p since there's 1080p monitors on market but sucks if you are working on OS due tiny word.

Dude, Here again, i forget something to say, You have to reformat HDD. thats why I hate any factory craps such as dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway come with vista like crapware OS.. I think you better stick with 32bit.

1) Yes, thats truly sad!

2) thats very odd, I was thought ATI video card is more expensive than geforce video card.. I might be blind by between ati and geforce videcard's price..

In bold, it is true if it is prior to 2006 but after 2006, ATI always cheaper than GeForce.
