Yea, most fullscreen (4:3 SDTV) are going phase out soon but not know about Best Buy if they will phase out in next year and all TV will be HDTV and widescreen. In 2008, All TV will be widescreen and almost none of fullscreen for most stores.

RedheadGrrl, I bet that you can afford new widescreen LCD monitor for watch movies and using on PC but it was affordable, such as 20" widescreen LCD monitor is around $250-$300 at Best Buy. I will rather to get HDTV and HDTV is getting more affordable.
 
I perfer widescreen movies the best...yet the two black bars above and below dont really bother me...you'll hardly notice it when you watch widescreen movies in the dark without any lights and would be much like watching the movie in theatres.

Dude, I was bringing it up so people can view of my points either you did or didnt mention the money. I didn't say you said that.

Yea, that's good.

If you wat6ch movies on widescreen TV then you wouldn't notice about 2 bars on top and bottom.

I like widescreen than fullscreen. black on the top and bottom screen tv look so supercool.

Did you know you can see everything from widescreen's right side to left side more than fullscreen?
 
You can watch the widescreen movies without black bars on a HDTV, depending on the widescreen ratio. ;)

Yes... a perfect fit would have to be 1.78:1 and a close one, 1:85.

2.35:1 is the most common aspect ratio for movies, so you will see black bars on these ones.

If it's 2.35:1, worse case...magnify to fill up the screen, too bad you won't see the video left to right, though.
 
WS is best for me because captions/subtitles will be on bottom of reg TV screen where the black bars are. That wouldn't cover up the whole films anyhoo. Now I got HDTV and the Widescreen DVDs is now Fullscreen on my HDTV. Fullscreen DVDs is not FS anymore on my HDTV with two black bars (left and right side). :giggle:
 
be honestly, both widescreen and fullscreen have con to me.

widescreen cause small screen in SDTV. widescreen cause chopped both side on vary HDTV or SDTV with widescreen. So, nothing are perfect.

In high position, I do like widescreen ideal which is sw33t.

I like Fullscreen as it is, I hate widescreen which cut the top and bottom off, it's very disturbing to me.

It's time you guys get Widescreen HDTV. Because in 2008 They will use all HD box every cable stations. So which all regular TVs will have to buy convertor box for HD to work on Reg TVs. That's what my mom told me when she heard the news. She is pissed off because she doesnt have HDTV. I am sure in 2008 HDTV will be affordable due to this reason.
 
i vote both

BUT i love fullscreen it is my favorite depend on if i buy movies that don't have fullscreen then i would buy widescreen anyway still love fullscreen anyway
 
I've always preferred widescreen.

I like to see more of the movies that I watch.

Some may say that the black top and bottom display is annoying, but think of it as a PRO in some ways... for the captioning. Some widescreen movies will have subtitles or captioning show up on the bottom black part instead. :)

Widescreen shows more while fullscreen (aka pan-&-scan) is a bit annoying since the movie sometimes pans left and right.
 
Voted Widescreen

It doesn't bother me with the black top and bottom. I prefer widescreen over fullscreen. One day I'd like to buy HDTV with widescreen. About 90 percent of my DVD's I have is widescreen. Few DVD format is fullscreen though it will make all widescreen soon no more full screen since new technology in TV nowadays.
 
Ah! now I got it but me dunno why I like full screen lol but I dont have HDTV right now cuz of $$$$$$ lol I have my own tv for now lol :lol:

Suprise me big time that W-MaRt selling High quaitly HDTV for the low price!

You whoever can afford to buy HDTV from wal mart store selling VIZIO, RCA, SAMMY like HDTV 32 is for 500- 670 range and HDTV 26 is for 350-485 range of retail price! That is afforable price, is that inexpensive? For me, I would go to pick HDTV from W-Mart for real!
