ORANGE, Calif. – The wife of televangelist Benny Hinn has filed for divorce in Southern California.

Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1, citing irreconcilable differences, after more than 30 years of marriage. The papers note the two separated on Jan. 26 and that Hinn has been living in Dana Point, a wealthy coastal community in southern Orange County.

Hinn is one of the best known advocates of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that Christians who are right with God will be rewarded with wealth and health in this lifetime.

His TV broadcasts on the Trinity Broadcast Network, a Pentecostal broadcasting juggernaut, and other TV networks are seen by millions of people around the world nearly every day. He travels the globe in his ministry's plane, named Dove One, holding events he calls "Miracle Crusades" that include spiritual healings.

Hinn has never fully publicly disclosed how he spends the money he raises, but his vast ministry is believed to be a multimillion-dollar operation. There was no mention of finances in the court filing, which listed three recent Southern California addresses for the family.

Over the years, Hinn has been the target of intense criticism from fellow Christians and watchdog groups who call his teachings false and accuse him of raising money only to enrich himself.

He is one of six televangelists under investigation by Sen. Charles Grassley, the Iowa Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, over whether he complied with IRS rules for nonprofits. Hinn has said on his Web site that external auditors ensure his compliance with IRS regulations and that in 2008, 88 percent of the money he collected was spent on ministry.

Benny Hinn Ministries is based in Grapevine, Texas, and operates a church and television studio in Aliso Viejo in California's Orange County, according to its Web site.

Sorrell Trope, the attorney listed on Suzanne Hinn's court filing, did not immediately return a call for comment.

J. Lee Grady, contributing editor of Charisma, a news magazine on the Pentecostal community, said Hinn's divorce is the latest in a string of high-profile ministry divorces and moral failures among the Pentecostal leaders, beginning with Ted Haggard's fall from grace in 2006.

He said Hinn's followers will want an explanation because of the high profile the couple had.

"It will be devastating to the people who have supported Benny Hinn's evangelistic work around the world," Grady said.

"Obviously because their ministry has been very public (and) they will need to issue a statement to their supporters to explain how this happened," he said.

My comment: About time, Benny Hinn has been a fake healer responsible for sending Deaf people and the disabled community to an early grave via depression and suicides. :cool2:

Remember this: JESUS CHRIST NEVER ASKED FOR MONEY BEFORE HEALING PEOPLE.

He is right down the street from me.......We're not friends:lol:

Benny Hinn really needs to attend many Deaf people's funerals. Their families and relatives would kill Benny Hinn in a heartbeat because of what he did.

Many Deaf people expressed the shock of losing Deaf school mates & friends at the funeral were lashing out at Benny Hinn and the same goes for Morris Cereullo.

I think Benny Hinn and the likes of him ( M.C. and other fake healers ) should turn his multi-million dollar scam operation over to the Deaf schools that badly need the money in a time of budget cuts and school closings.

Benny Hinn and the likes of him should be in TDCJ and it would be nice if he was strapped to the electric chair for causing so many Deaf people to commit suicides.

how did Benny cause problems for the deaf?

Never did like his beliefs, especially when he make you feel like a voodoo curse for speaking against him... something to do with annointed one. Many people believe this too.

Looks like Benny needs to heal himself.

Wasn't he the white-haired evangelist that would call people from the audience that were handicapped, in pain, etc., etc.??

And when he would "touch" them, they would fall backwards?..."Knocked out", or stunned?...And if they were "true believers" then they were "healed"??

It's amazing that television and people could really believe this crap! I know there are "miracles", and sometimes no explanation can be found. This man took the cake! And with all that $$$, he ate it too.

Yes, you are correct. His only God is the Almighty Dollar.
Reminds me of those old westerns, with some guy selling a "Cure-all" liquid from his wagon.

Looks like Benny's wife will be enjoying half of his cakes. :giggle:

People like him need to be thrown in a bottomless pit...

And wonders how many people suffered digging deep in their pockets that believed his crap.

If he truly wanted to help people he would have shared his wealth by helping people get the medical attention from doctors and medical staffs that man above gave the talents to doso.

Many denied the medical attention soley relying on him and the beleifs he shared.

Never did like his beliefs, especially when he make you feel like a voodoo curse for speaking against him... something to do with annointed one. Many people believe this too.

Here is one example. I will not name the Deaf person out of respect for the family's privacy even though the Deaf person has been dead for many years now.

One Deaf person had a lot of health related problems besides being Deaf. The Deaf person attended the miracle crusade and believed was healed only to wake up and see that still had the same health related problems.

It did not help things that other Deaf people made fun of that Deaf person and a few weeks of inner tormenting struggle. The Deaf person decided to commit suicide. Benny Hinn was 700 miles away doing other so-called miracle crusade.

There are many incidents of Deaf people taking their own lives after the so-called " miracle crusade ".

That is why it is very important to go on with your life and need to have the attitude that if I am healed, Great. If I am not healed then that is Great too.

God Himself will decide who gets healed. The fact that you are alive everyday in itself is truly a miracle.

Had that happen to me.

I was only 12. I was being raised orally at the time. I believed that the pastor could heal me. So I went for it. Took my hearing aids out. They did their thing. They asked me if I could hear... Told them. No.

After that I was told by him that it was my fault. Because I did not have enough faith.

Geez! I was only 12. And for them to sit and blame me for my hearing loss!! It truly made me think.

What a bunch of crap!!

I believe a priest told me that once along with a few other episodes of geing judged for who I am as a child. Forever turned me off to religion for life.

What does Benny Hinn do with the Deaf community?

Take that a step further; what does Benny Hinn have to do with religion?

He uses religion to make money. He preys on the poor and the suffering of others.

No better than a con artist or a quack.

if anyone get heal 100%, it will be in heaven, in my opinion. yes, I have heard of people think we are deaf because we have "bad" souls compare to others. Heck, I Even heard this from recreation (sp? it is some kind of afterlife) people too, that I will spend my lifetime correcting my soul through one recreation to another until perfection??? And the reason that I'm deaf now because I deserve it or something.

But I'm still a baptist, and I believe we were made to be deaf for a good reason, not the bad. (one is how Christ perform is miracles, but for us to understand miracles, someone must be made deaf... so we were blessed this way... not cursed)

He uses God as a prop, same as any con artist uses a prop of some type. You cannot buy your way into heaven, but it seems Benny and others have tried to convince people you can. So many of these televangelists end up in scandals. Their best abilities are persuasion and talented speaking. I do feel sorry for those that are misled, but I also shake my head at the gullibility of these same people.

Here is the thing ... Miracles are for real and do happen everyday. You never know it could be you, me or a Deaf friend you know that got healed by Jesus Christ.

None of that fake benny hinn or morris cerelluo stuff. You have to actually read the KJV Holy Bible for yourself and follow the instructions contained in the book of wisdom.

( Biblical verses related to prayer and fasting. Look up KJV Holy Bible, Mark 9:14-29 )

If your health will not permit you to fast, have your church initiate fasting meetings to gather around and pray. Not in front of an audience but in private like men's or women's bible study group. Do not ask people for money in tithles and just actually PRAY AND FAST.

IT COST NOTHING TO PRAY AND FAST. This is how it is done for real.
