Why fish is good for you

I give my kids Scott's Emulsion ,its cod oil is very good ...

ewwwwww!...Poor kids!....But, yes, I've heard it's good for you. And know of an old lady that still takes it...she's in the best of health and very active.

Interesting. I'm pregnant now, and I sometimes eat fish sticks. 258~

Be very careful about eating fish when pregnant...mercury can have a very negative effect on the fetus' development. I would stop eating fish sticks immediately. Opt for fresh fish instead and make sure it's small white fish that's from far out in the ocean, not fished from near the shore (pollution run-offs from factory farms, industrial waste go into offshore waters).

Well, seeing as how the post from ChelEler is 9 years old, I wonder if she's still eating fish sticks.

Eating fish are not always safe these days due to radioactive water in Pacific Ocean. Research more before you eat fish.

Some fish has mercury in it too! I love seafood , shrimps and scallops are my favorite, but most of it farm raises and from China or Thailand.

The last time I brought farm raises shrimps it smelled so horrible when I opened the bag I had to return it! And it stink up my car!

That's why I never eat fish ever since I left from parents' fava food.

I loves swordfish but it is a fatty fish and is known to have mercury in it. It is really sad that we can no longer eat food from the ocean and have to worry about how safe it is. Now the government is passing a law that we can only use energy efficient light bulbs and they have mercury in them. I doubt if everyone will recycle the bulbs to keep the mercury out of our landfills. We'll end up having in mercury our drinking water too!

dogmom, I learn that wild salmon have better body that way it grow strong than farm which weak their body. I find it much different on taste. I'll go for wild! However, it's depend where they catch from, there are both bad and good side on level of mercury :-/

yeah I have read that there's many issues with the farmed salmon, including their effect in wild salmon and how the farmed salmon's feces affects sealife in the area.
Farmed salmon feed is laced with antibiotics like any other factory-farmed animal, because of the crowded conditions over-use of antibiotics in both human and non-human animals is a problem and can weaken the ability to fight infection.

:)yeah, I have a can of sardines in tomato sauce that I got at the store a few days back. Maybe there's an issue with production:hmm:
and I like the herring in the wine sauce.
my bubbe<obm> used to make herring from homemade when she was a much younger person.

my dad likes to put together some onions and real rye bread to go with his sardines.

sardines in tomato sauce are not very popular where I live. I liked to eat them on rye bread with sweet onion. It is hard to find real rye bread where I live, I would have to go to Boston ,it is not too far from me but I do not go Boston anymore . I hate driving in that traffic!
My dad ate a lot of fish and onions. We had 3 kinds of fish every Sunday at breakfast . Bagels, lox and cream cheese, smoked white fish and some other kind. Homemade pickled herring sound so YUMMY! Now I want some pickled herring and black rye bread!
