Why would you want to have a child or children?

I mean, look at the world nowadays, it's pretty awful out there. Such as increasing of bad role models to look up at, sexual abuses, global overpopulation, bad economy, incests by family or family friends, jailbaits, increasing prices on food, pollution, wars, too many illnesses in children at early age, increasing of autism in children, cyberbullying, and bullying at schools, and increasing of poverty...24/7 protection over children is virtually impossible...

Just out of curiosity...feel free to post your feelings, opinions, reasons, etc..

Well.. now you put it that way... no, I don't want to have kids!

I'd like to have 3 kids! but I have a nephew, I'll try my best to protect him from this world and if I got kids, I'll do the same...

I have two kids and I cant imagine life without them. I love having a family which is why I had them.

Our first child wasn't planned...but once he came into the world..he was worth it! Now we have another baby...still worth it! I cannot image my life without them! They are my world! :)

Biological imperative. We would not be here anymore if fear of the state of the world stopped reproduction.

Yeah, but there's gotta be a limit. The state of Earth keeps getting worse and worse, and the world-wide population keeps increasing. Just 15 years ago, we were being taught in school that there are 6 billion people in the world, and since then, another billion has been added. I don't think anyone's saying reproduction should be shut down completely, but if you aren't much of a kid-person, or you think having kids will keep the marriage intact, or you want more and more kids because 3 isn't enough, or you just want kids because everyone else is doing it at your current stage of life, then you should stop and think about it. I personally am not going to have kids just because I have absolutely no sense of a biological time clock. I don't care for kids (my niece is fine, but only in small doses. I start to be driven insane after several hours. I love her, but my brain is wired the way it's wired). Besides, I'm an animal person, with a clear goal to be in animal rescue, and if I want to take care of something small and helpless, a dog or cat will already be here. I don't really know why people go nuts for kids, but whatever it is, I'm certain I don't have it. Therefore, I'm not going to punish a kid by having one and then raising it for 18 years and developing and manipulating the growing mind into a state of destruction (I'm too lackadaisical and lazy to give a child the proper mental upbringing for a healthy adult life, and I know it). At least puppies and kittens require that sort of stimulation and growing for only a year, then it's a sort of maintenance for the next several years.

Lots of people respond to this sort of thinking with, "Just wait a few years, and you'll see!" But this feeling doesn't come from immaturity (well, I don't think so anyway). Besides, I've got a brother and a sister (who does want kids) so I don't feel like putting stress and abuse (lol) on myself when I can just skip on over to see the nieces and nephews.

Oddly enough, I'm the favorite aunt. :hmm:

Are you speaking to me personally? My children are grown, and I rescue deaf dogs. I am a grandmother.

Like I said in another thread about married couples without kids. I applaud them for being honest about not wanting kids instead of conforming to society.

There are too many people who have kids but neglect, abandon, or abuse them.

Well, just the first part about the population of Earth and the dwindling quality of Earth, as I was responding specifically to the comment of fear of procreating stopping procreation completely. The rest is more to the general public.

Hubby and I love children; we have discussed adoption and will pursue this in the near future.

Having our own biological children isn't feasible for us as medically, I would lose the remaining vision from pregnancy.

I know I'm still young, and that my opinion may change, but right now I don't really think I will ever want kids. If I do want children, I would only want one biological child and the rest would be adopted. Why help overpopulate the earth when you can be a parent to children who are ready-made? I have to admit, I'm no Communist, but I'm a fan of the "1 child per couple" rule.

Exactly, there you said it. Soo true...:(

Whoa..dammnit I was gonna post something about my agreement with the idea of China's one-child policy (or one-time pregnancy to full birth) and asking why not all other countries do the same? It would help reducing the problem of overpopulation and its economy crisis in the future.

Yea, my bf and I have had discussed about adoption...but it's wayy too early and we aren't even married yet. Lol. Being fiancially unstable...well it's not going to be a go for us if that still happen in 10-15 years from now.

adoption agency does not like placing kids in home with couple who is not married to each other. They prefer married people or a single person with $$$$ job and stability.

same. it's a completion of life cycle for me. simple as that.

That's right, I know about that part. But hey what about those foster parents? Oh man what I have seen was pretty nasty!!!

Why have kids????? Well the beer is not gonna just walk to the chair by itself. And I don't wanna interupt the little woman's housecleaning. j/k

Kids rock and they open your eyes to alot of good things in the world. I learned more from my daughter than I ever learned in college.

Of course I partied alot in college

The world has always been cruel. We just hear more about it than before. The unspeakable crimes have always been around, in one way or another.

I have two wonderful children that I love more than anything!

Why did I have them?? It is because I wanted them.
