Been building computers since my 286. That had six speeds that it could run at... 6, 8, 10, and 12Mhz. Just think, the newest P4's run at 3060mhz. LOL. That computer also had a 40MB hard drive, and it had to be partitioned to a 33MB and 7MB partition under DOS 3.3. It also had .5 MB of ram. My computer now haa 40,000 MB hard drive and 512MB of ram. What a difference...LOL.
OTOH, I have assembled PClone computers from components (i.e. boards and peripherals), with the exception of installing heatsinks--that step is iffy enough that I don't want to risk plowing a screwdriver through an umpteen-layer motherboard. Aside from the heatsink/fan matter, it's really a pretty trivial job.
