my parents are STILL working on their house almost 20 years after we moved here. (we moved here the summer I was 7 and a half and I'm almost 25) It's still not done yet, but you should have seen what they had to start with!!!!! Besides my parents are like the remodling people on those TLC shows....they are constantly remodling! They've turned out some pretty neat stuff like our library.

Currently, we aren't doing anything with the house, but a few months back, my father renovated the kitchen.

Every summer, I take on a project around my house. Even though my house is only 12 years old and was custom-built, I am replacing stuff with better quality materials. The amount I save on labor is staggering, not to mention what I do is a labor of love.....

Yep same here...our house is only 4 years old but we replaced some stuff like that crappy cheapo kitchen faucet..we bought really nice faucet and the bathroom faucets too..they were just crappy cheapos..ugh so we did some replacements, thats about it for now..we are going to move so not gonna do a whole lot of work on our house.

During my project for house would happen when I have space time from work or going out. I love to do home improvement. :)

My dad and I did 2 bathrooms, we have to broke the wall down and starts new wall on next inches.... My mom like to help with us sometimes.... now, we are done with lanudry room with extra walls to look more normal room, not wood stems!

Oh yes, we have lived in this house 14 years and we are constantly, never-ending working on the house and yard. Some is maintenance, some is improvement and some is just changing things for variety. Upgrading kitchen appliances, replacing cheap flooring with real wood and ceramic tile, adding crown molding, building decks, laying stone walkways, etc. I agree with you other DIYers. You can save bundles of money do your own work. We also barter some work, like with the electricians and plumbers. We do things for them, and they do things for us.

There's always usually something to do around the house and like Tousi mentioned...tackling a few projects every year/summer increases our labor of love for making our homes more comfty and appealing! ^Angel^ and I worked on enchancing the front of the house this summer and it sure does look really nicer....Doing such projects on our own creates a personal rewarding satisfaction that really does feel great no matter how hard or difficult it was....

Have owned this place for past four years yet I have not done a single remodeling job :( Simply no time. Wish I could paint my entire place and make it a much more brighter and cozy but I am rarely at home.

I love watching " Changing Rooms" or "Trading Places" ...I daydream of what I would do but reality hits me..I simply have no time LOL

Give up and hire a maid, Malfy. The house is lost cause by now! lol

We work to improve our country house since 1989 & extension at winter garden & porch (front door), also renovation work, too since 2000. It´s almost finish now.

It´s plenty of time to improve your dream house. Everything would goes wrong when you are in hurry to let your house finish to done.

Roadrunner,
What did you do to enhance the front of the house? Put on plants, flowers, bushes, rocks, etc? As I love plants and landscaping. They do make front of houses look much more eye-appealing! :thumb:
