I was just going to say the same thing. :) I don't mind merging my thread with your thread.

I rather Texas own Mexico. bwhahaha! and turn hispanic into our own slave. wee... Oh no, I become evil!

A bit of oh so boring history concerning the first map: The powers that were in Mexico at the beginning of the 1800s used that map or one very similar to send patrols to intercept, then capture or kill the Lewis and Clarke Voyage of Discovery. Fortunately, the two units never met.

Concerning the second map, I'm shocked . . . shocked I tell you. Hee hee.

Second picture. We won the war against Mexico during the Mexican-American war. Get over it. :D

The correct answer is the second picture. :P

The picture I prefer is the 2nd one. :)

This ad is historic, just past but not modern map, however some media can make joke to people and become angry against company.

I doubt that southwest states and Texas would return to Mexico because of too much way to do and USA has sent over billions to this states, too late for Mexico.

*nods* Agree, it's too late for Mexico to receive those states back.

But think about it - we went in and took more than half of Mexico from the Mexicans now more than a century later we are all in a tizzy that Mexican migrants are crossing the border.

Im not condoning illegal immigration, but we gotta step back as U.S. citizens and realize that our country did take a piece of Mexico when we occupied Mexico City and forced them to give up their land.

Here is a more correct map of 1840 United States.
Establishing Borders: Map 1 A

Not all of that territory shown in the Absolut ad belonged to Mexico. There was a lot of disputed territory and there was also unrecognized territory that no one claimed, as well as territory that the US and Britain both claimed.

The Republic of Texas did not want to be a part of either nation, but wanted to be it's own sovereign nation. But in the end Mexico lost to the US and the Republic of Texas also lost to the US so Texas was integrated (not sure if thats the right word Im looking for) into the United States and it became the State of Texas, where as a state it could make its own laws for that specific state but it also had to abide by the Federal laws that were enforced for the whole nation. Texas didnt put up much of a fit though because they realized they had more 'freedom' being with the United States and not to mention the added protection of the US Army should Mexico decide to raid.

Actually Texas wanted to be part of the United States due to defense and financial difficulties that they endured getting independence from Mexico.

Most Texans wanted their Republic to be annexed into the United States because of the Republic's defensive and financial difficulties. Events such as the Dawson Massacre and two recaptures of Béxar in Texas of 1842 added momentum to the desire for statehood
