I found this article and thought it would be good to debate on.

Internet sites that market racism, white supremacy and neo-Nazism to a young audience are spreading like wildfire in cyberspace, according to a new study.

Supporters say there is a constitutional right to log on and sound off, but critics argue these webs of hate go far beyond the boundaries of free speech.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which published the study, said the Internet offers terrorists instantaneous recruiting throughout the world.

"You can just put in who you hate in Google (search), push the button and you're going to find out who your potential allies are throughout the world," Cooper said.

Last month 16-year-old Jeff Weise (search) went on a deadly school-shooting spree in Red Lake, Minn., and killed nine people before taking his own life.

The youth had posted more than 30 messages on a neo-Nazi Web site's bulletin board before the incident, a fact that adds fuel in the fight to delete hate sites.

But kicking unwanted sites off the Internet — even if they have hateful messages — is a violation of the First Amendment, said Eugene Volokh, a professor at UCLA Law School.
"Under the First Amendment, Nazi advocacy, communist advocacy — all sorts of such advocacy — is constitutionally protected," Volokh said.

Germany, Canada and France all have regulations that prohibit hate sites. France was embroiled for years in a court fight with Yahoo! (search) over removing Nazi and Ku Klux Klan-related links from the popular search engine's list of results. Yahoo! finally complied.

The Wiesenthal Center applauds Yahoo! and says removing the links was a critical step in fighting hate sites. The center says the private sector must refuse to help racists and bigots, even if the U.S. government cannot.

I love to arise my arm like nazi but I don't meant to support the nazi system cuz my grandma went through 3 1.2 years in the camp. People thinks I am neo-nazi just because I am using the arm rise nazi. Anyway my point is that people have their own belief based on their experience. They must have reasons for doing the hate thing and they can't hate things because they do it. For example I really dislike the homosexual spreading around the world it is dangerous to me. People keep calling me that I hate homosexual and I agree with that thing and I think hate is a wrong word choice. It is powerful word to use such like hate.

Conclusion: It is America's media and why other country bothers our media system with our amedments. Mind their own business! I don't want to clean up the hate groups because they hate things just because of their experience and we have to educate them the two sides. They can choose to hate or drop their hate. It is human's right to choose whatever they believe.

I'm against hate crime, It may be their freedom of speech to allow to say what they want, but for myself I would like to see a limit in that, cause hate crime can cause others to throw their temper around by letting something get more heated up, once that happens, such flareups will cause a few more people to join and gang up on them by doing something really terrible like shooting at certain innocent people that they hate the most...It's like what if you were in a debate with a couple of these types of people you happen to hate or them hating you, and the anger builds up and end up hating a person or some people even more to the point that causes either side to keep pushing and pushing one another's buttons over and over, reaching a certain boiling point which then some people or someone could get killed in the end, and sadly it would be too late to do anything about it, cause no one put an end to this hate crime in the first place, they let it go too far and too deep to be able to fix it........I hope I'm making sense here...

The bottom line is....I think sometimes a few people can get a bit confused between the freedom of speech and the freedom of abuse and that's my opinion...there's definitely a fine line when it comes to the freedom of speech, when hate is involved which certain ideas or actions have the potential to be used especially when broadcasted on certain hate web-sites....Actions taken by a few other countries that have disallowed the continuing of these hate web-sites imo is worthy of doing so no matter what the freedom of speech entitles us....

ppl are entitled to their own opinions as long as theyre not physically doing any serious harm or going too far overboard with their comments -- i personally cannot stand white supremacists, homophobes, bible thumpers and such types of ppl

I completely agree with you. Yes, it is freedom of speech but it comes with social responsibility which people kept forgetting or ignoring. I also am against hate crimes too.

Germany ban Nazi things.... also ban neo-Nazism polities, too few weeks ago...

I'm glad that German government did it because those issues are not belong to "Freedom of speech" but Freedom of Abuse.

I felt that we have more freedom and safety here in Germany. It's just my feeling.
