..or there may be no federal election until 2013? Who knows? :dunno:

I think there will be federal election next year because Julia Gillard took over from now until next federal election 2011. As she can't take new 3 years term.

It does sounds like a good opportunity chance for Julia Gillard to show how she is going to run the country for a short time, whether she have improved Australia or not.

After that, it will be up to Australian voters whether to vote for Labour and keep Julia Gillard in office or another Party and new Prime Minister takes over after federal election 2011.

I wonder that should be direct election by popular vote for her?

I have no idea.

Constitutionally, this cannot be done. The election have to be held this year considering that Gillard 'took' over from Rudd and is working on his tail. And Rudd has served 3 years or so as a PM.

Also Gillard will have to fight to get the mandate from the Australian people to govern the country.

Gonna be a interesting election.

I think next election probably going to be interesting one.

There's some talks about election being held in August. So Gillard can capitalise on her popularity now in an effort to win the election.

However, based on past elections, I bet the election will be held in November 2010.
