This spring, it could be mold and mildew...

You have your antihistamines and decongestants and have even tried staying indoors, but when your hay fever symptoms continue, you begin wondering what's growing outside.. All the while, you fail to realize the culprit could be mold and mildew blooming inside your own home...That's right , You could be allergic to indoor mold...

Mold grows in everyone's home, usually in damp areas like the bathroom, kitchen, or basement... Inhaling the spores can cause allergic reactions in people who have hay fever or asthma... It's virtually impossible to prevent mold spores from entering your home, because they sneak in through windows and doors or you and your pets track them in from outdoors.. However, you can take steps to help control mold and mildew in your home so you and your loved ones might feel better this spring...

What's the right way to clean?

A great defense against mold buildup is regular cleaning with fungicidal bleach or a cleaning product like Tilex Mold & Mildew Remover which has been proven to remove and kill mold and mildew...

Consider these mold reduction tips from Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America ( AAFA ):

--Control moisture in your home, especially in bathrooms, basements and laundry areas...

--Throw away or recycle old books, newspaper, clothing or bedding....

--Turn on the exhaust fan or open a window in the bathroom after bathing and showering...

--Clean refrigerator door gaskets and drip pans...

--Quickly repair any plumbing leaks

--Remove bathroom carpeting where moisture is a concern..

--Scour sinks and tubs. Fungi thrive on soap and other films that coat tiles and grout..

--Clean garbage pails frequently...

sun doesnt shine on much..weird cuz i didnt think mold grows on vinyl but

Mildew on vinyl siding is very common in the South. We pressure wash our house at least twice a year to clean it. We use a soap and bleach mix with the pressure washer. We wash the house, the shed, the deck, the sidewalks, the porch, and the driveway.

Mold is very prone to grow on vinyl siding.

Oh is that right?? geez..its growing on the front of the house where the sun
doesnt shine on much, the back and the sides of the house is fine..i didnt know that vinyl siding is prone to mold..dang! and thanks for the tip on how to get rid of it..we will invest into the pressure washer hose and wash the dang mold off the house this Spring!..our huge barn like storage building is fine cuz it has metal material so thank goodness for that. but why the deck, sidewalks and driveways? I dont see any mold on our deck..we dont have sidewalks and our driveway is gravel and dirt. We put two coats of wood protector on the wooden deck...we plan to put another coat of it this Spring.
In our area, we have high humidity so thats probably why we have mold..geez.

In our subdivision our sheds have to match our houses, so my shed is vinyl siding, so it gets mold too.

Our deck has some shady areas that get mold. Our sidewalks and driveway are concrete, so they get some mold, not too bad, but my hubby likes them sparkling clean, so he pressure washes them too. :)

Yes, high humidity encourages mold. Our yard is humid (usually 85 - 99% in the summer), and shady because we have many large trees.
