If you're thinking about building your new computer, what kind of computer case would you like to have?

For me? I'd like to hve CoolerMaster CM Stacker 830.

It's great because of the way CoolerMaster designed the case. In the fronnt, you're free to place the intake fan anywhere you want. Plus, there's a power button located on the top so you don't have to open the door and press the power button to turn on. To the side, you can put in four 140mm fans! For 140mm fans (top, front, and side) I'd get the Silver Streamliner. Why no back? Because I'd use Freezone CPU Cooler for cooling the CPU.

In the future, I'd like to see an improvement over the Stacker 830. I'd like hard drives be placed in the back, mostly in the top of the case, with the 120mm exaust fan to the back with 120mm intake fan located in the top. Size wouldn't matter to me. And why sacrifacing the number of drive bays to 9 drive bays? Previous computer cases made by CoolerMaster have about 11 drive bays, but of course, occupied by 1 power/usb/firewall drive bay. 11 is good, but I like 12! Yeah -- 12! Ultimate expandability!

Thus I'd like to put in:

12>9: 1 intake fan (occupies 3 5.25 drive bays; not a problem - goes down to 9, which is good),

9>8: VL System LIS 2 Premium VFD

8>7: Thermaltake Hardcano 13

7>6: Thermaltake X-Ray Cigarette Adaptor / Beverage Holder

6>5: Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty (comes with breakout box for fitting in a 5.25 drive bay)

5>4: Plextor PX-716AL (C'mon Plextor! Start developing a Serial ATA version of the slot-loading DVD Burner! :D )

4>3: LG Black 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE CD Burner (speed freak...heh... :D )

3>2: HD-DVD-ROM

2>1: "Blu-Ray Disc"-ROM (or BD-ROM for short)

1>0: Oh...one of my favorites I can't live without... 5.25" Desktop PC Multimedia Entertainment DVD Player

Heh heh... I feel like I'm a super-geek myself. ;) :hyper:   :laugh2: :type: :cool2: :thumb:

For the last two, had to wait until couple of years from now...Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies are kinda rare now.

Well anyway...what kind of computer case would you like to have, if you decided to build a computer case yourself?

Mod Note: Links fixed...

would you fix the link since #5>4 and 6>5 come together to one link... the case is nice and would able to put hd or cd device up or down along w fan in between..right now i think they are sell black. the freezecpu is good one but is it alike refrigater instead use water alike others, right? and i dont think they will do with video card? might dont need it since have four fan on the side?

I can't fix the link, sorry. You've gonna hve to copy/paste the URL into your address bar... :(

I have own built CASE, I did not use my case since 2003.. Actually I using Hi-tech and performance LAPTOP for five years. I can customize laptop for upgrades anytime... I do pefer laptop instead of PC...

LOL, I wish that i could build my own laptop..

I mean I can customize my laptop such as upgrade HHD, memory of rams, cpu chip, modem and video cards.

get it? ;)

I have a question... Can't I build my own cube-sized computer case? For example I'd like to have like 12 5.25" external drive bays (front), 12 3.5" hard drive bays (located to the back), and a motherboard and power supply sitting at the bottom of the case where the front 140mm fan will blow air in and back 140mm fan will blow heat air out from the back. It'd be a black computer case without windows in the case. I really love ultimate customization.

Fixed... :type:

Anyone can build their own case.

I've seen cases that are out-of-this-world.

OMG! All I see is a treasure chest with a glowing floating cube inside! Where's the insides of the hard drive!?

The above is from a series of unusual computer cases from this website...

OK I really like to build a computer case similar to what manufacturers have done, like Cooler Master, Xoxide, ThermalTake, etc.

So my question is, how would I build my own enclosure similar to what Cooler Master/ThermalTake have done? I wanted to build something lightweight like not from treasure chest or designing a computer case with pipes and glass...

What kind of class would I need to take if I wanted to build my computer case out of ordinary, with aluminum chasis?

http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/Products.aspx?pid=1083 is best case ever! Yes, I know you post a link here but this is still best one if u can afford it. I think it cost around $200-$300. I am too lazy to look up price.

That case is best for overclock.

Yeah, but I don't want hard drive taken up 3 drive bays...doesn't make sense for me. I'd prefer hard drives go behind next to power supply, as in ThermalTake case.

Although four hard drives are OK for me, I'd build my own computer case with something...three times the height of a home theater receiver. All I can say is, size doesn't really matter to me! :)

Neo... those are cool cases. I like how you are honest about your laziness. Maybe you should get up and jog or something to take care of the laziness... LOL JK..... Seriously, there are advantages to the tower with multiple drives depending on what you are doing. I stream audio and video in my studio so having multiple drives increases the perfromance. I currently stripe 2 - 10,000 r.p.m. ultra wide SCSI II drives and am capable of capturing live audio at 96khz sampling rate and 24 bit word depth. That is double CD quality and rivals what high end studios are capable of. So depending on what you are gonna do, you may want all of those drive bays available.

Good one for your humor.
Wow. Very nice for ultra wide scsi II drives. Too bad you don't get 15,000rpm. I am sure it's pricy and heat problem.

Good point about drive bays but I am not sure what exactly GraysonPeddie want use computer for.

You must be hearing person then.

What do you think of that?

Wow Va8003BWS have both ATX and BTX. It's good for future-proof.
