Zumba Fitness® is the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, created by Grammy Award-winning producers, and contagious steps to form a "fitness-party" that is downright addictive.

Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world’s largest – and most successful – dance-fitness program with more than 10 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 90,000 locations across more than 110 countries.

I love zumba!!! Somtimes I tried to fit into my schedule to work out on my own for zumba class. There is also called, zumba toning. I like it!! unfortunatley, My work is usually late. However, there have a "zumba family". I did take my girl to come with me about 3 times so far. She isn't crazy about it. But she knew I wanted her to come with me so she had to come. lol! Hope zumba will grow on her eventually as long as i keep taking her to come with me. :D

Phillips, high5!

FF, its so much fun. I have yet to try zumba toning sounds like something I am interested in. I have seen zumba mommy and me class, that's cool a zumba family for all the family to join. I hope your daughter will grow to like it :)

Aww KristinaB, there is a class made to take it easy on the jumping around. Mostly, get some movement lightly for those who need less stress on the body.

OB7 - I still wish I could try, but since I can't stay standing for long, I don't think Zumba could be done sitting in a chair. Ah well, maybe I can have the Zumba dance in my dreams and see myself doing it there.

Gummer - sheesh - is it really BS to want to exercise and have fun at the same time?

oh, well, different people like different things I guess, but I like Zumba too:)
I tried a series with in my work-out club just recently and it was a combo of the Zumba alternating with the circuit and it added variety to my workout. The next session they're trying more types of offerings cuz it was so popular, so they've added class times/days, and some days are only Zumba and other slots are the original combo of Zumba and circuit. I'm gonna try both ways.

zumba is bullshit

LOL! I sweat to god that there are a several guys (well most of them are married and in late 40's or 50's) in there. LOL Oh yes I remember couple of 2 guys who are in 20's and not married. They seem to be having a ball for zumba.

maybe you can try... just go back in the dancing where no one else watchs you in the back. :p

You never know with my creative mind, zumba for disabilities? Also, for people who can't stand on their two feet for a long period of time. Something to think about :hmm:

Grummer, why do think its BS?

well, what about just doing the arm movements...or sitting in a chair using one's feet, if one has motion there?

its just another fad, like Tae-bo...where as running or tai chi is proven and has far more value and also far more depth in philosophy and that youd know exactly what you are doing. It was born out of culture and neccessacy, not out of pop art and marketing....i just dont like gimicky excercises...

Grummer, I see your point. Did you know that Zumba was invented in the 1990's  It didn't gain popularity until 2001:laugh2: Its still moving along :)

yes, I agree Zumba is a fad, not a decades-old or ancient system. But for me, simply because it is a fad, doesn't mean I disregard it. I just take it as what it is. I also do Tai Chi and enjoy that very much and like various martial arts.

I am thinking of taking some Zumba lessons here. It sounds like fun! :)

 Sosie enjoy:)
Though I do it a what is a considered a "high-aerobic" level for the location it's held in <I'm the youngest person there> I'm not coordinated or "good" at it I don't think; I do have difficulties with the sequencing and things due to learning disability. BUt I don't care what I look like, I just try my best for me.

I am starting an adaptive tai chi called "New Forest Tai Chi".

New Forest T'ai Chi

Go down to "A Morning Cup of Tai Chi" and that's the book I have. It's a simplified version and can be done in a chair if need be.

YouTube - Tai Chi for Seniors

even THAT is gimicky, it arent real Tai Chi. I done quite a lot of different styles (not just Tai Chi, other MAs). This in the video is more like pantomine, copying without actually thinking about Tai Chi way , not even close. Relaxing yes, but it arent it.
