Hiya.... I am wondering what is your Christmas tradition?

Ah....my family is big about Christmas holiday. We could get together on Christmas Eve and have Mom's clam chowder soup and her homemade rolls. We could sign/signchristmas songs or tell a story of the Birth of Jesus Christ and open one present for each of us that from our parents. Also our parents always give us a brand new PJ! It was always red, green and white.

Then in the Christmas morning, we'd all get up like 6 or 7 am to open our presents. BUT! my parents wanted to start with the youngest to open first then to the oldest. It took forever for my oldest siblings cuz I was the second youngest!

After opening presents, we'd gather and help each other to cook breakfast, the english muffins, eggs, ham and cheese is a must!!! with fresh squeeze orange juice. Ahh! Yummy!

The rest of the day, we could spend the whole day playing our new stuff. I would be spending my day (actually the whole week) to do over 1,000 or more pieces of puzzles alone. Sometimes, if the snow outside is great, I would be going out to make a snowman then come home to have myself hot chocolate.

Those are my best memories.... now I am happily married. I gotta convince my husband to stick my own tradition however, we gotta compromise our OWN new tradition. :-D

So share with your christmas tradition!

Happy Holidays!!!

Hi there, now I work today and you don't. ;)

My Christmas traditions?

Dec 5th: St Nick's Night, leave plate on table and hay in shoes. Sleep and wait for St. Nick to come at night to leave small pressies on the plate

Usually, 2nd Advent before Christmas, we put our tree up and decorate it.

24th December, we do last minute shopping, wrapping and Santa Claus duties. LOL Sometimes we go to the church for the midnight services.

25th December, wake up in morning, exchange pressies and eat Christmas breakfast, which usually consists of coffee, hot cocoa, cookies, pastries, fruits, etc...

We go to visit my sister and her family, then we return home. We prepare our traditional Christmas manicotti (Bewitched, you had some of that at Christmas Eve party in 2003 in Spanish Fork!) alongside with salad, etc... My Oma and Uncle come over, and we eat dinner plus exchange more pressies. I usually watch TV as I am only one deaf in hearing family.

After Grandmother and Uncle leave, I go and visit my best friend and her two kids. I usually stay over there until late.

Ever since I moved to Utah, I have gone home for Christmas in 2004 and this year I wont be home for Christmas, however I will be visiting my family from Dec 13th to 19th. I have to work during the week which Christmas falls on.

As far as I know, my "new" family here celebrates their Vietnamese Noel customs. Family gets together on 24th Dec and 25th Dec and just basically be together. It will be my first time this year to experience their culture. But I am still doing St. Nick's and keeping tree up until 6th January! One must compromise, heh heh

Good thread!

Our family tradition is when we all girls inculding my sisters, and my mom get together on the second week of December and make Christmas cookies, I mean alot alot of cookies.....We get together not only to make cookies but to have fun I mean girls fun only, it makes us get closer and closer every year....When we are all done, we divide up for all of us to take home, when I arrived home, I put some cookies in a few boxes and give them to my friends in my area....

And we always have Christmas Eve at my dad's and mom's house every year, so that's another Family tradition too....

Good morning!!!

My christmas tradition is on the 23th, go buy some more last gifts and wrap the whole presents.

On the 24th of Christmas Eve, during the afternoon we will go to my grandma's house, eat homemade chilli..yummy!..wait for everybody to get together and then at 2 pm we would open the presents from the my grandma's side family. The kids open the presents and then adult opens too.

Later at night, we will go to my other grandma's house around 8 pm, eat some desserts like we always do. Wait for everybody to get together and open the presents around 9 pm. Then watch some christmas movies! I love to watch the christmas movies.

On the 25th of Christmas Day, when my family and I wake up we wait on my brother, his wife and daughter will arrive to my mom's house, we will open the presents in the morning. And then around the afternoon we will go to my grandma's house for dinner and it is my brother's birthday so we are celebrating two things on that day!

Very Good thread there, Bewitched! Everyone has a nice Christmas Traditions I enjoyed reading each of yours. :grouphug:

My Christmas Tradition, On the second week of December, My sisters and I would get together, head over our stepmother's house to bake our own batches of cookies. It's more like a party but this is a "women only" party. We bring our recipes and ingredients and supplies to make cookies, Most of the time there are ingredients already set up on one table for all of us to share which there will be sugar, flour, eggs, butter, coca, oil and etc. :wiggle:

We bring other ingredients. We would spend the entire day mixing up our favorite cookies in the kitchen, which plenty of space for all of us. We would have some good conversations and laughter's while making cookies. After baking cookies there will be a table to put our cookies on and each person would get a batch of cookies made by each of us. Then later, we will decorate our sugar cookies with frosting (with food coloring to make homemade frosting). :thumb:

We will make a lot of different type of cookies and each of us take it home do whatever we wish to do with the cookies, Some of us had took cookies to our neighbors, our children's schools, or donate them to local shelter for the homeless. :P

On Christmas Eve, It's my day to shop for my love ones, Every year I would put coins in the Salvation Army collection buckets while going shopping for food for Christmas Day at my house, Every other year I would make turkey and another year I'll buy ham from the bakery ham place. Later that evening we head over my dad's house to celebrate Christmas, having dinner and opening presents and play a few family games together. ;)

On Christmas Day, It's a day where I spend Christmas at home with my two beautiful boys, watching them opening presents and loving their reactions with full of surprises, and I would make a small breakfast for all of us. And later that afternoon while the children play with their special toys they got from Christmas I would spend my entire time in the kitchen cooking a nice Christmas dinner, We say our prayers and eat our delicious dinner and share some conversation together and of course there are always some laughter's. Of course we also sing some great Christmas songs with eachothers. Boy, wasn't that so much fun! ;)

there is no tradition left in our side.... just that have fun @ holidays. sound sick, dnt ye

My family's Christmas Tradition are:

December 24: My uncle Larry, Jeff and Kevin(mom's brothers), Larry's wife and step son, Jeff's girlfriend, my brothers(Jamie and Robert), sisters(Samantha and Emily), plus Samantha's husband include Samantha's daughter Sarah and Samantha's husband's daughter Morgan, my parents, my grandma(mom's mom) and I will eat dinner together and chat for awhile, we will start trade to open the presents and have fun then taking the pictures together as family.

December 25: We will wake up in the morning to come down here to open presents together, just me, my parents, my sister Emily and my brother Robert. Then we will celebrate my brother, Robert's birthday since he will be 18. Then after that(new christmas tradition) we are going to my grandpa's house to spend christmas with(My dad's step dad) since hes lonely(my grandma died in two years ago) and seeing my aunt Anna(dad's youngest sister) and her husband, Chad and their newborn. Then coming home to drink the hot chocolate together and watching some Christmas movies. :D

Finnish Tradition

We celebrate the holiday on 24th by having a Finnish meal (black peas, rutagba/carrot casserole and whatnot) then the kids will open the gifts (in Finland, somebody gets to dress up as a Santa *in their verison of costume, not American's fluffy white cuffs and velvet red suit* and give out gifts to all kids and adults, but in our house, nobody is forced to dress up like a Santa Claus) then the rest of the family open their gifts from each other. One gift is opened at a time so nobody is left out of the "oohs" and "ahhs" clamor.

We don't do the 25th at all. No waking up in the morning and running to find gifts under the tree.

My family's tradition is the same as all. Christmas Eve is spent together, having a meal, and usually watching a movie. Our dinner usually either consists of Pizza Hut or KFC. Then Christmas morning is spent with the usual opening of the gifts, taking out of the trash, then eating a nice Christmas day dinner. Like I said, nothing special.

 When my dad was in the picture, we did the "wake-up-run-to-the-tree" routine, but by then the Finnish tradition kicked back in, so my bro and I did had that American taste for few years. ;)

I didn't know KFC or Pizzahut are open on Christmas. It seems as if the entire nation take the day off every Christmas. Even the CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Hmm.. just had a thought-- what happen to the VRS??? Will there some interpreters available for some holidays calls to home??

About VRS, yes they will be there on a Christmas day since I was informed by my neighbor who works at the headquarter. The Sorenson bldg is about a block away from my home. Hope it helps. :)
