What is up with making an offer deal?

Why are many sellers asking buyers to make offers? What is so special that warrants making an offer?

See, if you had a 15 years old Ford Taurus, I wouldn't waste my time making an offer. I'll find another 15 years old Taurus with a price tag and buy it.

If someone had something really, really rare, they may get offers for their items. They may not have to put down price tag, but will get offers because people want them.
 
i think people are desperate to sell and not got clue the value of the thing,plus might offer fantastic price get deal done and go as quick as possible also save embrassment
 
Not everybody has a clue to how to sell. So they do it like those reality shows. Make me a offer hoping to make a buck. I've picked up on that u are a bike salesman so im sure it drives u crazy since u know how to sell!

Yeah, I sell a lot of bikes. I sell a lot of similar bikes and see similar bikes around me. Therefore, I need to put prices on my bikes or they will buy somewhere else.
