Church Rally in support of 17th of May Parade
A rally will be held on Saturday, May 1, at the Norwegian Christian Home in Brooklyn to support the parade on 17th of May.

17th of May Parade Committee's Celebratory Boat Ride
Entertainment provided by Jentejanitsjar Bjølsen and Jeannie Woodman and the Scandinavian Accordian Club.
When: Friday, May 14 from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm, boarding at 7pm.
Where: Leaving from West 43rd Street at the Hudson River. Parking is available at Pier 83, adjacent to the dock area.

Internationalswede's May 17th Celebration
This years party will take place on May16th at Puck Fair in SoHo.
A separate "Norway Room" has been secured for the festivities, although guests will have access to all three rooms. Look for the Norwegian decorations! Tickets are currently available online through www.internationalswede.com, or through Ulrika's Restaurant. Tickets are $20 gals, $40 guys. Ticket prices will be higher ay the door.
When: Saturday, May 15 from 9 pm to 3 am.

17th of May Parade in Brooklyn (16th of May)
The Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade with marching bands, floats, church groups, civic organizations and much, much more. All groups will line up on 88th, 89th and 90th Streets adjacent to 5th Avenue, in Brooklyn. The line of march commences at 1:30 on the afternoon of Sunday, May 16th, and continues along 5th Avenue to 67th Street, then turning East to pass in review in front of the platform set up across from Leif Erikson Park, between 6th and 7th Avenues. The theme of this year's Parade is " Norwegian Americans Salute the 150th Anniversary of Bay Ridge." Expect a dozen marching bands in the Parade, including the all-female Jentejanitsjar Bjølsen from Norway. Guest speaker of the year is Thorvald Stoltenberg, former Foreign Minister of Norway and current President of the Norwegian Red Cross.
When: Sunday, May 16. Parade starts at 1:30 pm, and program starts at 3:30 pm.

May 17th Celebration at the Norwegian Seaman's Church
The Norwegian community is invited to celebrate May 17th at the Norwegian Seamen's Church. From 4 pm, there will be artists entertaining, Norwegian music by Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy and John Lidal, games for children, and of course, hot-dogs and ice-cream! Consul General Liv Mørch Finborud will greet the crowd, and speaker of the day is Jan Egeland, the head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) at the UN. At 8 pm, a concert will be held at the church with the all-female 'bigband' Jentejanitsjar Bjølsen from Norway ($10).
When: Monday, May 17. Open House from 4 pm, Program starts at 5:30 pm and concert at 8 pm.

May 17 Block Party
A three-day Block Party will take place at historic Stone Street in Lower Manhattan . The celebration will include indoor and outdoor brunch (prix-fix $25), dinner (prix-fix $42), party, live music and much more! The event is hosted by Smörgas Chef Restaurant.

Strawberry Festival Lodge Meeting

After a brief meeting, there will be arranged a Strawberry Festival. Bring your favorite strawberry dish - Strawberry shortcake, strawberry soup, strawberries and whipped cream, bløtkake with strawberries etc. For all to enjoy! A video "The Royal Wedding, August 25, 2001" - an NRK production will be screened.

Hmmmm looks delicious with strawberry...

Will let my husband and bro in law to know about the strawberry festival never know they want to go because we do grow strawberries along with blueberries and cranberries :)
