Vending machines are more expensive than buying candies from the store I have been to hotels all over the states I have seen a candy bar for 1.00 to 1.50. What a rip off. If you lucky enough some vending machines candies are 60 cent each it depends on where you go to find one. :giggle:

Cheri those damn cashiers make you add sales tax when you dont know how much extra it is. At a vending machine it saves time instead of reaching in your pocket digging nickels dimes and pennies to pay for the sales tax. If everyone votes for republicans we wouldnt be in this mess. Everything was fine in america until the 60s came along. It just seems our parents lost their minds on how they voted in the 60s Thats why we use vending machines and have to buy things off the internet to advoid sales tax.

RSteve, if you wanna pay a buck fifty for a candy bar from a vending machine because there's no sales tax and bypass that same candy bar at the supermarket at 49 cents plus 4 cents sales tax, totalling 53 cents, be my guest!

RS, what you don't get is that the snacks in vending machines are actually priced like this:

A bag of peanuts, for 46 cents retail, plus 4 cents tax equals 50 cents. You put 50 cents in the machine, and think you're not paying taxes, but the reality is that you still are. The snack you bought probably cost the vendor 25 cents, so the vendor pocketed 21 cents from your purchase. This is just an example.

America and Canada are strange countries when it comes to taxes.
In Europe, taxes are ALREADY included in the prices. You already know what you need to pay. The receipt ticket will tell you how much taxes you paid, but it will not increase the price like it does in the US and Canada.

I agree with you kuifje75. Many a time I've struggled with my poor math skills over how much a tip to leave. Then I have to content with the PST, GST, and liquor taxes on top of the meal price.

For example, a meal that I thought was a great price like $19.00 on the menu, but when I pay at the till the total comes to like $28.00 because I had to tip, pay the GST, PST, and liquor tax. I am like, whoa, I didn't expect to pay that much! It's crazy.

This fascinates me about the no tipping and taxes on meals in Europe. Are you saying the full price is on the menu like tips, taxes, and the meal price? No more taking out the little calculator and figure out the tips, etc.? That is really great.

Correct but there're no tips and GST to pay in Europe but tax. I do not need to pay extra. The prices is fixed with tax as what the bill shown when I paid. I will scan to show you the example of the shopping bill when I'm home from work.

Do you MUST pay tips to anywhere in your country? I remember the thread discussion over tips in other US forum. I was like "wow" when I read their posts because we dont have.

We dont pay the tips to any resturants, gasline or whatever but we pay toilet cleaner the tip voluntary because she/he clean the public toilet for us. That's one I only tip is toilet cleaner and hairdressers.

When you get a hair cut the barber dont charge you sales tax for your hair cut. When you ride on a cab. Cabbie doesnt charge you sales tax for your ride. When youre sick the doctor doesnt charge you sales tax to make you well. When you bowl theres no sales tax for bowling. When you watch a movie at the theater theres no sales tax for watching a movie. When you watch a ballgame theres no sales tax for watching a ballgame. And the NFL doesnt allow sales taxes owner already warn states not to do it or theyre relocate. Look at the charlotte hornets why you think they moved to new orleans? Because the owner had a dispute with the north carrolina governor. The owner of the carrolina panthers already warned governor of north carrolina if he doesnt lift the surcharge tax on pro sports hes taking the panthers to portland. So you better lay off these owners or theyre move elsewhere.

Ok, back on topic. RS, this is your topic on vending machines, etc. How come you didn't make a simple check before making such a gross assumption that you don't pay sales taxes on the stuff from vending machines? Sales taxes are built into the products you vend.
