* Warning Alert for Men's Health * ( Women can read too )

I guess the mattress is from the 1950's. When I move to a different place then I am getting my own bed. That way it is brand new and no one else has slept in it over the years.
I don't think your back is getting good support from a mattress that old. If you can't afford a new one, you might be better off getting a good quality air mattress to replace it.

And until you get the new mattress, a 1/4 or 3/8 inch sheet of plywood might give you more support than you have now AND IF you do not have a box spring.

The bed bugs usually thrive on moisture left by the sleeper and its actually retained by the blankets covering it. The best thing is to roll up the blankets and allow your mattress to dry up a bit every day and that makes it difficult for it to become a bedbugatropolis.

I posted some pics of this back then on another thread.

Then throw old mattress away...

The mattress need to re-new every 5 to 10 years (depend on mattress quaility).

If you want water bed then no re-new need... forever...

It has nothing do with sheets and case but mattress... Of course sheets need to be clean but sheets is not responsible for cause the bugs but mattress...

Thank you to all of you for the advice given and I will try them all. I should be getting a new mattress a.s.a.p. My eye is healing up really nice and hopefully by the end of the week when I go back to the doctor's office, I will get a clean bill of health. I have already washed n' dried the bedsheets and pillowcases and from now on, they will be washed n' dried once a week. As for the new mattress bed. I debated wheter to buy one now or wait till later. I decided what I am gonna do is when I move to a new place, I am going to get entirely new bed mattress, blankets, pillowcase and a brand new sleeping bag this way I do not carry anything from my old apartment to the new place. I really went Yikes !!!!! when I read the bed bugs article and I thought oh man, this is really bad so now I am gonna get 100% new bed mattress and everything 100 % brand new when I move to a new place. I will feel a whole better having a 100 % brand new bed, blankets and pillows for sure and wash and dry them once a week faithfully from now on and Yes, Reba my mom does know best. :fingersx:

I don't washed the bedsheet until around 3 month. :eek3:

About time you got around to doing them once a week that way you don't catch an eye infection like I did. I know it may cost alittle bit more at the launderomat but it is alots better than losing an eye or possibly both due to eye infection.

It may be just about $2.00 to $3.00 more for the launderomat ( Since you live in the city, Try to go to a launderomat that does not eat your quarters so much ) plus the time it takes to do the load of clothes and the bed goods. I would do the bed goods first then the clothes last that way, it goes much faster. Make the extra time on Saturday morning to head out to the launderomat early in the a.m. so that you get a jump start on your day doing the laundry. Remember it is alots better than having an eye infection or possibly worse. It is a whole alots easier in the long run too.

WTF !!!!! I just looked up bed bugs, I thought they were bad but not that so bad. Yeah I am gonna get a new bed and bring it with me to the next new place. :eek3:

Bedbug - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well, Bedbug is common in developing countries, such as India, Mexico and other more but rare in USA and used got worst in last early century ago, around before WW2.

Are u serious Heath that the mattress is from the 1950s? If so that must have been one hell of a good company to make a mattress to last a half a decade!

Yes, it is really a very good bed. Alittle of sagging from years of wear but still sturdy. Alots of the things that were Made in the USA last just about forever.

The things made in China last only a few months, weeks or even in some cases mere days, sometimes on the same day of purchase the chinese made items break. This is why you will find Chinese American exiles living in the U.S. buying up things Made in the U.S.A. even if they have to find it on e-bay. I never forgot the day I visited a Chinese American's home only to find the things he had owned were almost entirely Made in the U.S.A. and I have seen this too as well in many another Chinese American's homes when I lived in the big city from before. Chinese slave labor is the main reason why the products are so lousy and break on impact and I refuse to return the item because then with a customer's complaint report, the serial number and place of assembly factory where-ever it was made in China can mean certain death for one of the Chinese slave laborers who work very hard for little pay under the iron fist of communist soldiers who keep a very careful eye for any little signs of weakness, faltering or deliberately sabogating the items that are made and they are summarily shot on sight. I will not fill out a customer's complaint form at Walmart or any of the chain retail giants where Chinese made goods are sold because I will not have that on my conscience. The Chinese government has yet to learn that slave labor is not the answer to high quality made goods like what we make here in America.

This is one of the reasons why I absoutely refuse to buy at Walmart or any of the retail chain giants selling Chinese made stuff and try to pass off the products as if it were an American name brand. The only way to know for sure is to look on the bottom to see if it is made in China or Made in the U.S.A. If I know something is 100% Made in the USA I prefer to buy it from the factory itself by ordering online at the website right here in the Good Ol' U.S. of America. The U.S. Political Leadership in effect has sold out the American people. This is why now, American made goods are now highly sought by everybody.

Now back on topic .... My red eye has completely returned to a normal white eye so now all that is left to do is to continue the antiobiotical eye drops until the medication runs out and return on Monday to the eye doctor's office to see what he wants done next, a clean bill of health or alittle more on the eye drop medication ??? I am hoping I don't have to use the eye drops anymore because I am not used to squeezing eye drops into my eye but if the eye doctor says I need to continue with the medication. I will do that.

Oh gosh! Im very fussy about bed stuff. I do hang my blankets on the line outside once a month, hang out the pillows on the lines, but they can be washed it and hang up in the summer cos they are long time to get dry, wash my sheets and the pillowcase as well too once a week, leave the mattress for fresh air whole a day, then vacuum around in the rooms plus under the bed. I would buy fresh bed every 10years.

There are other ways, especially of the erogenous ways, people can get the ass bugs in their eyes.

And it resembles Grotto Mud.

Nesumth, mud with mosquitos and bugs will only work in the summertime.

In the wintertime, if you have mud then there are no bugs or flies at all.

I learned that while I was learning survival techniques, living off the land in the woods.

There is a good reason why mud resorts keep their place cool or air conditioned with the exception of mud baths where there is no way for the mosquitos and flies to come into the hot mud baths.

My eye is finally clearing up and I am really very happy about that. I am still taking the eye drop medication until the medication runs out.

Hahahah well someone here is real clean enuff not to know other things. I dont blame Heath for not knowing cause hes a good clean feller among us. But theres a real sick and dirty thing called SCAT and thats another way people can get the bad ass bugs in their eyes.

The good old days everything was more durable than it is nowadays. And for the mattress I believe Heath since in the past mattressses were made to last 50 plus years just as as long as marriages can last. Nowadays they last 5-7 yrs the average length of a typical marriage.

When people dump marriages these days, they dump the mattresses too.

You got a good point there !!!!! :) :thumb:

I need not worry about bed bugs for a while. Got me a new mattress.

Note that I roll up the blankets to keep the bed bugs away.
