Some of you might have read a post I made not long ago about Understanding Late Deafened. You can check it out here - Understanding Late Deafened (An Excerpt). I'm so glad it was well received and helped a few people.
Well, under the advice of a friend who has published a number of books. I'd like to ask you all if you might be able to contribute to this project.
First let me tell you that this project is not for the money. Once it's completed it's going to be given to anyone who might find it helpful or interesting. It's purpose is to compile experiences, advice and suggestions to help those who could benefit from it. It's mainly intended for people who has lost their hearing or people who are close to someone with profound hearing loss.
In fact every word I've written so far is on line and free to all and you'll be able to see it at it progresses. You can go to the below link and watch it progress. I'm using google documents to share what I've written so far. You can check it out here:
Late Deafened Google Docs
So what I'm asking all of you is to imagine you are talking to someone who has lost their hearing, or someone who is close to someone who lost or is loosing their hearing. What would you tell them? What experiences would you share? What advice and tips would you give them?
If you can take the time to do this. Feel free to post them here or post a google document like I did above and link to it. My plan is to break them down into the right structure once enough is compiled. For example when I write about lip reading and if you write something about that. What you wrote might be included in that section and so forth. Of course your name, if you want it there, will be included as it's source.
I'm sure we all have something to contribute. Even if you are one of the member of AD who isn't deaf but are close to or related to someone who is. The idea is to help people like you who might now or will be going through something similar. You can read some of what I've written above for some examples.
Thanks for your time.
