Vista feeds alot of spaces from HDD

I had major issue with Vista that feeds alot of spaces, in last time, I only have 92 GB left then shut down and switched to Mac OS X for several days then switch to Vista via bootcamp and found only 88 GB left, I was just WTF at damn vista that took more spaces so randomly.

I need help to stop feeds alot of spaces from HDD, I don't install many apps, just left quietly and nothing but still feeds alot of spaces from HDD, I just want rip this OS off since Mac OS X never lose the HDD space except if install apps or update, hooray to Mac OS X.

Anyone who is Windows user that know how to fix it?

I believe it was from restore point or virtual memory? I want kill them.

Oh, got it, it was from system restore then I have kill them now.

Edit: Issued solved after disabled system restore, I got 105 GB back again.

Vista isn't made for a mac, even though macs have pc hardware in them now. Its something to do with the mac firmware that makes vista not compatible.

Vista also has lots of problems still. Microsoft has not patched all the security holes and memory leaks.

I suggest sticking with the mac Os x or if you really need windows that bad on a mac try windows XP with service pack two.

Also, I heard that VMWare is faster then bootcamp. Not sure if that is true but its worth looking into.

Oh, and by the way, linux is far better for security, reliability, support, and programing then the Mac Os or Windows. Linux has a very solid kernel and has been significantly improved upon over the years.

Bootcamp on Mac OS X support both of XP and Vista (all editions), it has nothing with EFI issue for Vista and this installers are successful on Mac. That's not true about Fusion or Parallel are better than Bootcamp becuase Fusion and Parallel are using virtual machine since Bootcamp use native machine, Both of XP and Vista are run so natively on Bootcamp, faster as regular PC does.

I must have Windows to run late PC games, such as Halo 2, Crysis, UT3 and majority of simulation games. Both of Fusion and Parallel don't support Directx 9c (Fusion is only support Directx 9 without shaders) and Directx 10, only limited to Directx 8.1 and below.

I don't want XP anymore for some reason, Vista is latest OS that can receive support and more update and there's several games are starting require Vista only, such as Halo 2 and others. Most issue on Vista, such as bugs and memory leak, that you mentioned on your post has been fixed via Windows Update, you need just keep update. I had seen an greater improve for Vista after Windows Update, also Vista SP1 will come out to cosnumers on this month. Its same with earlier XP with no SP are buggy as Vista, it was back in 2001. I'm just retired from XP and currently using on Vista.

This issue for loss of space on HDD are cause by System Restore, both of XP and Vista has one, it was started came on Windows 2000 and ME. I had disabled on System Restore and got large amount of GB back and noticed about some performance improve, also disable on Areo would show an improve for games and expands the laptop battery too.

I do have Imac, I'd prefer to have separate computers. Having XP or Vista installed in Mac as 2nd boot would have more vulnerable and crashes. I'd prefer 100% Mac and other 100% XP separately. Save myself a lot of headache.

I'm using Bootcamp for about 7 month now, I don't notice about issue that what you mention. For Windows, if you receive security threat, such as viruses, worm, trojan horse or spyware, it's only affected on Windows partition since Mac OS X is on other partition, it doesn't interfere with Mac OS X due different format system. I had use boot up so often and nothing is happen or doesn't make Mac OS X so slower or receive other issues.

My first bootcamp was installed XP on iMac then removed and returned to MS Return Program for refund then bought Vista Home Premium and installed on iMac, kept it until Jan 2008 then removed again and install Vista on MacBook Pro (MBP) on same product key then called MS for activate the Windows because tried activated via online and failed due already used key product on iMac, it got worked out after called MS for activate the Windows, plus I was returned XP at first place because I had experience with XP from my old PC then I just want practice with Vista to get more experience.

I'm currently own 2 Mac right now, soon will be 1 and MBP will be my default Mac too and give iMac to my sibling, I'm going off to college in next fall 2008 and having 2 Mac are too much for me, plus I'm personally love Bootcamp and allow me to use 2 OS without need buy other laptop and don't want carry 2 laptops with me.

vista isn't good idea to use right now during bad issues lately. Better stick with XP, unless you have good reason why need Vista on iMac.

Well to be safe I'd rather use full mac boot on my Imac nothing else. If I make another windows boot in my mac, the virus etc will still get in which is a headache. I'd prefer to leave full Mac OSX as is.

Every Mac users have their own choice what they want to do. I still have another computer tower that is windows XP which I have not used in a while but still have some files in storage. When I have time will transfer some picture to my mac. I'm considering getting MacPro sometime later but am not in a hurry right now.

Yeah.

You're better off keeping separate OS on separate computers.

While it may seem like a good idea to be able to switch between different OS on the same computer, there will still be problems one way or another.

When Vista is screw up on my Mac then I will do hard restart button then press "C" during boot up to get in Mac OS X and controlling the bootcamp setting to delete the Windows partition, have been at once due networking issue when use in wrong mode.
